Email Copywriter in Progress Has A Problem

Hey Warriors

So I have had a keen interest in Copywriting and now I have started preparing myself for Email copywriting.
Basically I am wish to be an Email Copywriter.

My problem is I just can't figure out how should I approach a client. Will it be good if I send email
to marketers and offer them a deal or post a thread on the forum for someone to hire me for free at start and then we can see how it works.

So fellow warriors, the most frequently asked question by any NOOB Copywriter...."How To Find CLIENTS"

Please take Out Your Knowledge MISSILE and Bombard me with it.

    I'm kind of in the same boat. Just trying to get my first few jobs.

    My plan is to work for free (you should know at least a few other marketers who would be interested in getting some free copy) until I have a few testimonials in my portfolio.

    Once I have a few testimonials and results, I can start leveraging those for actual paying gigs.

    At least that's my plan.

    Research is a fundamental copywriting skill (another one is knowing it's copywriting, not copy-writing or copy-riting).

    And it would've taken very little research to find this post which has links to dozens of threads with hundreds of client-getting ideas and lots of other useful stuff:

    If your post is any indication of your writing ability, good clients will avoid you because you don't have the skills to pull off the job.

    Work on your craft first. If you're good, you will be able to attract repeat business pretty easily.

      I'll tell you what I do. Takes me a few minutes a day.

      As part of my day-to-day research, I optin for various offers.

      When I see something that can be improved, I'll tell the list owner in a helpful way.

      It's usually a different subject line, or a better intro.

      Not trying to be cocky or a know-it-all, not necessarily looking for work, not making an offer or sell them... not trying to do anything other than help out a fellow marketer. All I do is I provide a link to my website, in the event they're curious.

      Like anything, some will respond and some won't. But it's an easy, non-threatening way of introducing yourself and what you do.

        You are the STAR man. Your ideas are short and to the point. Glad to have a piece of advice from you.

        @Daniel: Actually it was not to show that I can write as for now, I know that I suck at writing. Its been more than two years and I haven't written anything.
        It was just a genuine newbie question because I was not able to figure out how to approach someone as a email copywriter. Currently I am working on improving my writing skills and learning techniques that may help me in doing so.

        My TWO Big Mistakes were:

        1) I avoided THE Search button
        2) Used typo while writing Copywriter, in my thread and in my Signature (Yeah I was stupid)

        But from now on, I will take the advice seriously and work my ass off to become a good Copywriter

    You need to do more homework. Use the little-known button on the forum called "Search". It was just invented here. Put in the words, re. how to find clients.

    There are many excellent threads on this subject already.
