Email CTR to Click To Optin-Sale?

Hi Copy gang,

Just curious what a good benchmark for emails in terms of email CTR to click on a link to opt-in/sale.

Also, by cold lead, current buyers list, solo ad, affiliate?

Not sure if my numbers are good or bad.

For example, say 1000 emails with 300 open with 30 click a link, 3 buy/optin.

It's all relative to your relationship with your list.

I used to have a 10% open rate, then I rewrote my autoresponder and I get a 50-60% open rate.

If you can tap into what is most important to your list and you have a good relationship with them, they will be much more likely to open, click, buy, etc.

Don't try to compare your list against other people's. They obviously have different metrics because they have a different relationship with the list.

Simply try to continuously improve your own numbers.

i'm not interested in CTR per se.

Interested in the action sequence of:

      open email
      click link
      optin
      buy

      What numbers are you getting?

      Yes, everything is relative. BUT!...

when you get something enough, you know your numbers.

And yes, i know that if it's a high dollar sale, an email can still be profitable.

I'm more concerned about action ration sequence (ideally by type, industry).

And yes, I know somebody knows this answer. It just ain't me.

The CTR can be different according to the industry. Generally speaking, US median is about 2.2%, 8.3% can be viewed as top rate. Your best bet with evaluating your click through rates metrics is to use them comparatively over time to determine which emails do and don't generate good click-through numbers and then improve your click-through performance over time.
