Hello folks, don't know if this is the right place or post this in warriors for hire, but how much normally does it cost to hire someone to rewrite a 3 to 5 page website? This will be for my own business site. I SUCK at writing and my grammar is worse. So I will be needing someone that can do this for my site, if who ever does it works out and turns a turd into strawberries I will keep them on perm. and will have them do all of my sites! So post away! Thanks

Tom

    How much is a car?

Do you want a Bugatti or a Ford?

Or is price the only thing that matters, and you'll settle for a 1982 Yugo as long as it barely runs?

    Wrong focus.

Consider the size of your opportunity. With a healthy, conservative projection, how much money do you think your offer will bring in?

How long will it be open for?

How will you direct traffic to it?

    What conversion do you expect?

    What price will you charge?

Figure out the size of the opportunity. THEN you can figure out what a reasonable budget is for a copywriter to get involved...and that will automatically filter in and out individual writers.

5 to 25% of your opportunity is a reasonable range for writers. The more you invest in a proven writer, the better the results you are likely to see. However, there are no guarantees--even the best copywriters fail most of the time.

That is not all I am focused on and thank you, I do get your point. I already written all the content, these sites are live btw I do know how much it will make has made but as pointed out to me my grammar sucks. If I can get my grammar up to par then for the folks that have problems hiring me only because of my grammar, and not for my design quality. *shrugs* maybe I am wording this all wrong I do that a lot. Again I do understand what you're saying and I thank you for your kind words sir.

        Tom...

Jason started there, because that was your emphasis in the initial post.

It's not a bad question to ask.

Even the filthy rich want to see the price tag.

        But in the copywriting world...

        The answer will vary wildly.

        Follow Jason's advice...

Figure out what kind of profit-potential you project, get your budget together... then let a few copywriters quote on it.

The more specific you are, the better the quote will be.

The less specific you are, the more red flags... and the higher your quote will be.

        Get clear.

        Get organized.

        Take action.

I was speaking in general terms about whether price was the focus, not specifically about anything you said. I'm sure plenty of people will be reading this thread and I am speaking to them, too.

So, over the next year how many sites do you think, conservatively, you'll sell? And at what price? Multiply the two together and that's the size of your opportunity. Do not "think happy thoughts" and supersize this figure.

Then you can calculate your copywriting budget.

I say 5-25% because there has to be room for advertising/traffic generation, delivery/cost of goods sold, and our good friend Profit. If I could get the ghost of Gary Halbert to write my copy, I would probably go above 25% because the chances of success--outstanding success--are greatly increased. Speaking of Halbert, read this. In it, you'll see how a good copywriter can increase your profits significantly.

@Mark, thanks for the kind words. This is how I and my prospects figure out what my effort is worth...and it instantly qualifies them In or Out. Below a certain number, the project just isn't going to warrant my involvement because it won't support the copywriting budget necessary to get my attention. With the right questions, like these, you can determine Budget Fit in just a few minutes. There are other components of Fit, like interest (is the topic in a field I want to write about?) or Personality (can I work with this person as a client, or are they going to drive me nuts?).

And when a prospect says, "I don't know," when you ask what the size of their opportunity is, and can't figure it out by answering these questions... Warning.

      Crowd chants...

This is awesome. [Clap clap... clap clap clap]

Seriously, I've seen people, myself included, try to explain the pricing mentality... and this is perfect.

Once you've answered everything Jason asked...

How much is it worth to you to grab those profits?

How does one determine the size of your opportunity? I'm really interested to get feedback on this.

Look up. What is this section called? "Copywriting". Nothing to do with "copyright". But what you're looking for - and you should take an ad in the Classifieds section not post here - is a content writer. And they're a dime a dozen.
