    1) people hate them..but they work...I put a pop up on my blog....

it is a little less intrusive...you might try a slide in as well...I tried that as well...

I ain't tried the big request at the top of the page that some folks do...

    2) You need a good ethical bribe...yep...give them something...an audio..video..or pdf or something to join...Also get a good cover created for it....something that looks nice...

    3) Tell people what to expect...have an "orientation series" of 2 or 3 emails that go out when you sign up....tell them about you...your game....how you are different...and give them links to valuable content on your blog and stuff...

    4) Write them regularly...don't hard sell unless you really know what you are doing...

    5) Everybody is into the "tell stories" game...try that...tell stories and soft sell your stuff...

    6) Remember nobody signed up for your list to be sold to...but nobody is gonna buy anything from you unless you tell them how to buy it...its a balancing act....

    7) In addition...remember folks want more information about the subject matter...give them that in an entertaining way..without giving away the farm (you charge for that)

    hope that helps....

I don't use pop ups but I will not refute what the other poster in here says about them.

I personally use a simple Optin box on top right hand side of my Blogs to build my Lists.
      Works good for me.

The thing about storytelling cannot be over rated !! Really.

And this is something that has been around since the dawn of man : Telling stories to engage and capture the attention and imaginations of the people listening.

Its extremely powerful. People love stories and connecting to them emotionally and personally. Ultimately, this emotional connection will equate to sells if done properly

TO build an email list you can do it a few ways.

You can run ads, for example solo ads and facebook and drive the traffic to an optin page.

On your blog make sure when people land on your site you have some form perhaps a free ebook giveaway that will solve your target markets problems.

When people land on your blog you want them to take action... and that is get on your list, so you can build a relationship.

So think about what your target market's problems are and you be seen as the one who will show them how to solve it.

If you want to bounce any ideas off me.

Happy to help out. Just send me a message

    Cheers

    Hello,

Best way to have a busy list is, to make sure your website is super nice, and have a optin on sidebar with a free gift. Now the free gift must match your niche and be nice, not some cheap gift, and use a membership system to funnel to affiliate links, and auto responders‎.

Like I always say, never charge to join your membership, free and once there in, funnel to page where you have affiliate links, and bam you get a sale.

Key note, optin should be a membership optin, that saves email, and also adds them to list with auto responders, and have like 40 auto responders ready.

I never send out affiliate links to my list or inside my messages, in my auto responders, I always funnel them to the page where they can click on, a super nice page that is.

There is a trick to building a busy list, one is spend the time to write good content on messages that go out on auto responders, and offer more then one free gift, I offer many, just to get them inside the niche that I am working on. Send out free gift like every third message that goes out.

    Ok hope this help you.

    Thank you
    Rob.

    Hello shaka,

I'm glad you have asked this question this is something I'm working on... The best way to build your list effectively is to offer free reports to your subscribers it will help a lot.... It can be anything like free report, profit blueprints, digital information products, e.t.c..... There are many membership sites out there on the Internet which are offering thousands of digital products with resell rights......

    I hope this helps

    Thank you

Sign up for an email marketing provider which allow you to signup for free like mailchimp, madmimi, and vertical response. After signing up, find a suitable opt-in or subscriber form plugin from the wordpress repositories of pluins or outside opt-in form provider and link your email marketing account. I use mail munch and wp subscribe. You can then choose whether to configure it to be displayed as pop-up, floating bar, or side bar. Then wait for someone to opt-in.

    Hey there!

Creat an opt-in page specifically. And drive traffic to that page. It makes the conversions so much better instead of driving traffic to your blog and having an opt-in bar up top or whatever.

Offer a free product that they get for as soon as they enter in there email address.

Give value for the first couple emails before you even talk about another product. You don't want them to subscribe read your first email and already be throwing products on their face. This KILLS your email open rates. It's ok to do every once after a few emails, but not every email!

    Just some tips..

    Hope this helps

The most effective method is to create a “hook”. Offer your visitors something in return for their emails (for example a list of some efficient tips). I always get into this trap

Just add alot of content (about the niche) and add a signup box for a free gift (pop up works fantastic as well!).

Because you are creating a blog i recommend you to not use more budget on your blog that in average $1/ day. For $1 you can get up to 100 clicks from bingads

All you have to do to get these cheap clicks is to change the keyword bids and boom!

Note: even if you are spending money, you will make more when you got a list

List = Most important thing in your business

Remember: when having a list you can't just spam them with offers... the more value you give... the more money you will make!

    Hope this post helped!

Don't lose sight of the idea that email marketing is a process, not just a string of discrete events.

Making a helpful ebook is good. Making a helpful ebook that is consistent with what got people to the opt-in and with what will come after is even better.

Take the ever-popular dog training niche. Your blog, and your list, is about fostering puppies that will one day become service dogs. Your ebook is about dog grooming.

Yes, it might be helpful, but not really related. An ebook on socializing puppies (getting them used to strangers and different places) might be more helpful, and it's in line with your overall topic.
