You can find out a LOT about email marketing simply by researching similar threads on this forum.

As far as software goes, Aweber and GetResponse seem to be the most popular ones with a one month free trial. If you're just starting out, you could use MailChimp which has a free version (up to 2000 subscribers I think?). You can always switch providers at a later date simply by importing your current list.

I don't advise you to get just any autoresponder.

Tools like Aweber or GetResponse actively work with the Internet Service Providers (ISPs) and large email providers such as Hotmail, Gmail, Yahoo etc. to white-list their IP addresses etc.

They also have a well tested and proven system, as well as good support.

I completely understand that people want to invest wisely and save money where possible, but our advice (my boss, Rob Rider, has been a full time marketer since 1999 and sold millions of $ worth of products and services) would be to NOT try to save money by using a cheaper autoresponder service or tool.

Your list will become one of the most valuable assets in your business, and by skimping on your autoresponder you may end up losing out in the long-run.

    **Added:

I notice someone recommended Mailchimp here, and although they are a GREAT Autoresponder service you need to be aware that they are NOT a suitable choice for affiliate marketers!

In fact, according to their terms, they may (and will!) cancel your account if you send emails with affiliate links!

If you are running your own e-commerce store for example and not selling products as an affiliate I think they are an excellent choice.

Email marketing is simply advertising to an email list. You can rent other people's list or you can create your own.

The thing to do is set up your own landing page and start to build your list. You can rent other peoples list and sent those people over to your list.

The idea is well email marketing is traffic on demand and its a great way to make sales on the backend through an email sequence.

    • Be personal; keeping a personal tone tends to resonate more with your following and seems to increase click ratios as well;
    • Interact with your following; you can do this by asking for feedback, give them special discounts or saying thanks to them (which can be combined with discounts);
    • Make announcements; whether this is about a new product or service, or about something noteworthy within your line of work (f.i. we usually highlight any big Google changes in our newsletter), keeping your following up to date and sharing news worthy items really helps increase their engagement;
    • Share your knowledge; I feel this is probably the most important one. Sharing your knowledge makes for worthwhile emails for your following, but it also shows them you know what you’re doing. So not only do they get more informed, their trust in your brand will increase.

If you are a small business, you can go for Mailchimp which has a free subscription for around 2000 audiences/subscribers. It can be customized and has a lot of templates for you to design your mails.

    Getting Permission

Of course, no email campaign was ever built without getting permission to get started, so first we’ll need to focus on building a sizable email list.

There are many ways you can do this of course. Some prefer to give something away for free while others simply offer a newsletter or product updates.

I can’t tell you which is the right or wrong answer in this case, but I can tell you that it’s important to have a clear purpose when asking for an address. This is where a strong call to action comes into play, and copywriting is super important.

What do I get when I give you my email address?
Are you going to spam me?
How often will you email me?
    Will I get discounts?
Will I get a first crack at your beta?
Will you send me relevant offers or more junk?

Yup, you can find much software for bulk emailing.

But,I would like to know what is your end goal?

Are you just looking to send emails to your customer list or on the other way - try to segment your audience according to interest and then send them an email to get higher conversions.
If you need more than just sending an email try other software. But if you need more like engagement, conversions try Firecart

*Mail regularly – You want your email subscribers to think of your business when they need the product or service you offer, so remind them of your presence with email. Mail at the least, once per month.
*Send what you promised at sign-up. If subscribers signed up for tips and tactics delivered twice a week, that’s what you should deliver. Part of keeping your email readers engaged is sending the information they actually wanted.
*Use images and links – Always include a mix of images and text, and include links back to your website, products or services.
*Make it readable – At every step of the email creation process, think of your readers. Use a sans serif (no curlicues or swishes on the letters) font such as Verdana, Arial or Times New Roman in black or dark grey for easy reading.
Include a postal address and unsubscribe link – A postal address and unsubscribe link is required by CAN-SPAM.

You should first of all familiarize yourself with all the keywords of email marketing.Next ,create a squeeze page for your product where you can collect email ids of people interested in it.You then will have to get an autoresponder which helps you send the volume of emails which suits you and also fulfill their requirements. There you go ,you are all ready to send your email campaigns.

To reiterate what several others are saying here:

    First, DO NOT try to send mass e-mails through your own ISP from home. You will get shut down. If you're going to do e-mail marketing, you must work with one of the commercial services. This also keeps you compliant with CAN-SPAM laws;

I personally have used GetResponse for over 10 years and have found them to have great customer service, and are an overall great value.

    All the best,

    Hi Saleforcedev

    What is Email marketing?
Email marketing in which you directly send a commercial message to a group of people using email. Simply you can say every email sent to a subscriber or current customer is considered to be email marketing.

What is email list building in online marketing?

Email list building is a process through which we add a new prospect or visitor to our mailing list by taking his email address through our landing page, squeeze page or simple contact form on our website.

Why email list building is very important?

Email list building is important because while running any kind of affiliate campaign or online business or small business we need to be in touch or follow up with our prospects and subscribers through their email addresses, so that we can promote them our affiliate product or our own product in future by sending emails to them on their email address.

On the other hand, why it is very-very important to build our own list because you might have seen in the online marketing world that there is a change from time to time.

Important to note here that I am talking about Google updates and their algorithms.

Marketers who are having $10k monthly websites on the first page of Google and suddenly they see their websites on page 10 of Google or may be not able to see on any page of Google just because of Penguin or Panda updates or penalty or changing Google policies whatever the case. Then what happens, marketers who were making $10K monthly with their websites start losing their business.

I hope you get the point what I mean? So here in that case we need to build our own email list. So that we don’t have to dependent on Google or anybody.

If we build our list then a Penguin or Panda updates won’t affect our business, because we have our subscriber’s email address with us in our system that is called autoresponder and we can approach them whenever we want and can follow up. Getresponse or Aweber are the autoresponder out of one we can choose to build our email list.. Both are the good autoresponder.

Note: – Earnings from website can be anything. $10K monthly websites, it just an example. Right!

Our email list is our assets which keep on paying to us in future like compound interest.

In another way, building our own list is like a digging our own wall, whenever we think we are in thirst, we can drink water without depending on anybody.

When is the best time to build our email list?

Without any doubt or wasting any time we need to start building our list right now. Don’t wait for things to look perfect. Start building email list.

What is the value of per subscriber in our email list?

Actually it is still considerable what is the value of per subscriber? But according to my mentor each subscriber is worth $1-$2 for years to come if we do it right and care our subscribers and value them.

Hope this will be helpful somewhere.

    I recommend Aweber.

It's simple to use. And very easy to integrate your optin forms into your website (even if you're a "tech-dummy" like myself).

With email marketing, the money is in your list. So you need to build up a quality list of genuine prospects. To do this, you need to offer what's known as an "ethical bribe". This is something you give people for free, in exchange for them giving you their email address.

For example, a free report which solves a certain problem that's common in your market.

This strategy is much more effective at growing a list compared to just saying "subscribe to my email list" like a lot of businesses do.

Be prepared to get your "learning-hat" on though. If you want to get good at this, you have to both learn and practice all the time.

Email marketing occurs when a company sends a commercial message to a group of people by use of electronic email. Most commonly through advertisings, requests for business, or sales or donation solicitation, any email communication is considered email marketing if it helps to build customer loyalty, trust in a item or company or brand reputation. Email marketing is an efficient way to stay connected with your clients while also promoting your business.

The basics of emarketing are a lot to cover in a forum post!

There are many online resources which a quick Google search will reveal to give you the best option to meet your personal needs.

Here are a few fundamentals to think about though to get you started though:

    Have a goal in mind.
Many people email ad hoc and without a strategy, this stunts relationship building and confuses your reader. Decide whether you want your email to sell a product, create brand or product awareness, or for another goal entirely. Make sure that each point comes back to this ultimate goal.

    Be consistent.
Decide how often you will send your emails and stick to this. Once a week if you have lots to say, or once a month just to touch base; whatever you choose make sure you are consistent. Your readers will get used to seeing your name with regular content coming through which helps to build engagement.

    Do what you say.
Whichever tactic you used to encourage someone to sign up, make sure you deliver what you promised. If you’ve offered them a course in something, a self-help guide or even just an email once a week – do what you say. It’s vital that you’re true to your word so that your subscribers trust you.

    Use appealing pictures.
Nobody wants to read pages and pages of copy. Make your content visual, engaging and attractive to your reader.

    Link.
Link back to your website at every opportunity. This is where the sales take place so the more people you can get from your email to your website, the better!

    Font.

The font you use is really important. Choose one that’s pleasant on the eye and consistent with your brand.

    Add a disclaimer/unsubscribe option.
With so much ‘junk’ email landing in people’s inboxes, it’s important that they know why they’re receiving your email. As soon as sign up has taken place you should send a confirmation email but also add a disclaimer to each email telling them how they signed up (ie, they’re a customer of company name or a LinkedIn contact of yours etc).

Always add an unsubscribe option which improves your credibility and shows your reader that you care about their choices.

    Build a list:
Ultimately, all of these tips are useless if you’re not taking the time to build a quality and authentic list. Buying subscribers and not attacking the process with a clear strategy will see you destined for failure, and quickly!

If all of these tips sound a little too much to implement, the best advice I can give you is to hire a professional! There are many qualified and competent companies out there who will be only too happy to give you some tactics and strategy guidance on making the most from your email list from start to finish.

    Good luck!

    Thanks for your good question.

Email marketing is a famous way to reach targeted people easily. Before starting email marketing you should know some basic rules.
There are two ways to collect email list- white-hat and black-hat. Under white -hat method you have to create a signup form to collect your targeted people. You can give a free offer to attract people. Then you can send your other offers to the email list. In this way you can generate very small number of email ids per month.
Under black-hat method you can use email extractor software to collect targeted email list. There are a lot of good email extractor on online. After collect a good and targeted email list you have to send out your offer directly to the list. You can build up interspire email marketer server to send out a huge email list. Cost is really low. You may get 200-250 opens from 1,000 email ids. You have to collect those email ids to use in future. Again you can send your signup form to collect your subscribers or leads for your business.

Some basics for create an email campaign:
    1. manage an email list
    2. write an email text with a beautiful email subject- remember open rate depends on subject line.
    3. build a server to send out emails
    4. upload email list and text to your server to create a campaign
    5. check spam score and avoid spam words from your text
    6. check preview before final campaign
    7. set autoresponder for open and click email ids
8 collect those opened and clicked ids for future use

Always try to learn about email marketing to know more.
    Thanks

It's very difficult to tell basics of email marketing in a word. Basically, In the marketing sense, If anyone wants to send website/products promotion, any message to the current and potential customer through email that is email marketing.

Normal email platforms like Gmail, Hotmail, yahoo,- you can't send lots of emails every day also that are not customizable. so, You need a software/email platform.

I recommended you use Mailchimp. Getresponse, Aweber, constant contact also good. But, through MailChimp, you can send 12,000 emails up to 2,000 customers every month absolutely free. It's also easy to use.

But, if you want to send million of emails then I recommended you, manage a personal email server like interspire or amazon SES. Because, readymade server is okay for send 5-20k emails but if you want more to send, cost will be high.

For email campaign need a collection of customer email lists. Then, just upload lists into the server, need to create a eye-catching email newsletter/template design and subject line also important. Then, ready to send.

For more you can discuss with a professional.

    Thanks

I definitely agree that it's so important people feel they're being given something valuable, rather than being sold to. Nobody likes that feeling where it's just spammy and every single sentence offers ridiculous promises.

For our e-mail list, which isn't big, we have a lot of marketing professionals and companies who have expressed some interest in video production in the past, but may not be in position to pull the trigger now. Or maybe they just want to learn more. As a result, we try to send them informative blog articles, new statistics or facts that help them make a decision, and new videos we have created for other clients.

At least with video production, I don't really think the "hard sell" is an effective means of marketing. I think companies know that videos help their SEO rankings, they help explain products or services, and they generate brand trust. They just aren't always ready for video production or aren't sure who to choose, so the educational process through e-mail marketing is the most important aspect. Educate, don't spam, basically.

Email marketing is a simple and proven strategy to promote your business. It attracts new customers and helps maintain close relationships with loyal customers. There's a long list of software for email marketing.

Campaign Monitor - Campaign Monitor offers an easy way to connect with your audience through email marketing, including auto-responders.

Zoho Campaigns - Zoho Campaigns includes advanced features, such as auto-responders, for a low price, but its dated interface and limited templates hold it back.

Emma - With features for companies big and small, Emma is versatile email marketing software with a personalized touch.

Constant Contact - Constant Contact is easy to use, looks professional, and demystifies email marketing. It was a bit glitchy in testing, however, and is occasionally stingy for the price.

Campaigner - Campaigner is a well-designed email marketing service with many advanced features and a generous free trial.

MailChimp - MailChimp is easy to set up and easy to use. If you are a small business looking to get started with email marketing with the least amount of fuss, MailChimp should be part of your toolbox.

Infusionsoft - Infusionsoft is a capable, easy-to-use CRM and email marketing platform geared toward small businesses with up to 25 employees. It's not the cheapest or the most in-depth, but the goal-oriented platform succeeds at helping targeted businesses hit measurable sales and marketing goals.

RedCappi - Geared towards beginners, RedCappi is email marketing software that's simple to use with somewhat basic features.

AWeber - AWeber gives you the flexibility to manage contacts and customize your own email templates, but not a lot of third-party integration. If you want email marketing without a lot of fuss, AWeber deserves a look.

SendinBlue - SendinBlue is a promising email marketing solution, but it's not always easy to use as its templates are basic and it lacks third-party integrations.
