Mailchimp Suspended on First Email Blast

Have a signin form on my site, (sells stationery products, nothing against mailchimp TOS). I only have about 15 subsribers so far but I decided to start sending out weekly friday emails with the new products we got in for the week, a discount code and a fun fact about something together with a have a good weekend kind of message. I'm a newbie at this but it seemed like a good idea. Well the first attempt I put a little blurb about the history of fountain pens and a offer code and pictures of some new products. They didn't send it, and suspended my account for unnamed TOS violations because their software flagged me for TOS violation.
This is all very frustrating so I guess it's a two part thing:

1: Any other email marketing services with a free tier that integrate with shopify easily? Mailchimp has a shopify plugin that can sync lists, and also handles the signup form, so it was convenient.
2: Any open source kind of php interface that works like this that I could just self host? I have dreamhost hosting and I could put up my own software but I don't know what's out there.

    I would take it up with mailchimp first and ask what TOS you violated and why

    If you are looking for a free service, I stumbled across EmailOctopus the other day and I stress that I have not used it, but from the little bit of research I did, it looked as if it COULD be a sensible low cost alternative to the big two.

    Emailchimp its risky to use if you use promotion ,they dont like that .I would go to sendlane and its very 10$ per month .I dont sell you nothing but i dont want to risk my business with a free service where i can be banned

    Mailchimp has an aggressive filtering system. They also won't mail to certain industries.

    Your best bet would be to get in contact with mail chimp coming in here won't do anything for you. Get them the tell you what you did wrong if anything.

    If you got a suspension notice for an unidentified TOS violation, odds are you tripped some kind of automated filter. As others have said, you need more information.

    If you had said you sent out an affiliate offer, I'd understand the suspension. Same for an offer in one of their restricted categories. But fountain pens, from your own shop?

    You may have to send multiple emails, or even pick up the phone, but get an answer. Something just isn't making sense here.

    As others have mentioned, contacting MailChimp would be the best way to resolve this...

    Making a WAG (Wild A$$ Guess), it is the discount code that automatically "triggered" the TOS violation. People use "discount codes" or "coupons" to "get around" blatantly using affiliate links.... that violate MailChimp's TOS.

    That can happen. You have to read all the details in their terms and just contact their client support and see what you did wrong. I think they usually let you back in if you explain to them that you just made a mistake.

      So that's the thing, ever since this happened it's had a flag up that my account needs review and that they would have someone look at it. I sent a response but didn't hear back. At this point I just don't really want to deal with the lack of control. I got a linode VPS and I'm hosting mautic on it, I'm going to use that for email marketing. The interface is clumsy compared to mailchimp but at least I have full control. I suppose linode could ban me but there are lots of hosting options.

      I should also say, they didn't completely shut down my account, just disable sending. The popup forms, list exports, etc still work.

    I just took a quick look at the email and I do not see anything that would shut it down, unless they saw the buy button as an affiliate link, which it is not. I would contact them to find out for sure,
