New to email marketing

Hi all,

I am brand new and just found your forum. I have a new start up project I am very excited about. A niche market. Equine data management platform. I have been working with programmers for almost two years and we are about to go into beta. It has been quite a learning experience.

Which leads me to another part of the learning...I have been developing a huge database to send out email marketing campaigns when we are ready to launch. 99% of the people in the database have not given me permission to email them. I didn't know you were supposed to get their permission. Why do I get 10-25 emails/day that no one asked my permission to send them to me. I have gotten these email addresses through google, facebook, industry websites, etc. My database is now about 5k emails. I have a small list through MailChimp but as I read through the site...they are going to close my account when I upload all these contacts and send out a massive email. I know that many will bounce...I entered the address wrong...it is no longer a valid address...etc.

WWYD? Is there a way to use this database?

TIA...

    Nice work you have done.

And yes, first you need to get permission from the recipients to send those emails.

The first thing to do is request permission. I think MailChimp already provide that service, it is to send a short email presenting yourself and what is your offer, and giving them the option to accept or decline.

If you do it with MailChimp or any other software, it will update the people's decision on your database.

You can do it manually... But that is quite a work...

    Hope it helps

Try to send them a mail with a provider, like aws of amazon asking them if they're interested, askin them to opt in a opt in page (connected to your autoresponder).

Then you will have a smaller, but a clean list
