Email Marketing Database Help

Hello guys, hope everyone is having a great week!

I'm creating this thread to find some help/suggestions on how to proceed with the following situation.

One of the sales reps in my company got a hold of an awesome database but none of the emails in it actually opted-in to receive emails from us. Now, one of the most important things in email marketing is that the emails in any list must have opted-in, but I don't wanna waste this database and I don't wanna go against any email policies.

What do you guys suggest me to do with this predicament?

      It is a small one, around 500 contacts.
      Totally, the contacts are MQLs.
      1 year since it was put together, tops.
      None at tis point.

    Hi Diego,

    I see that you are concerned about email marketing. First of, I'd like to know more about your business and who your target market it. This will give me an idea of what industry your business falls in and I can then give you some advice on how to go about it. 500 contacts is more than enough to work with!

    perhaps you've wasted yours by replying.
    He probably did waste his time - if you don't want a real answer. When it comes to emailing a list like this - his advice is spot on. No autoresponder will accept that list of emails without any proof of opt in...for good reason.

    Yes, people buy and sell email leads all the time - but if you are selling this sort of 'database' ...don't claim to be worried about email 'policies'.

    If you ask a question and only accept answers you want to hear - what do you learn by asking a question? Sometimes the answer is 'here's a way to do that' - and other times the best answer is 'don't do that'.

    If you have a good business reputation, these non-opt-inned emails..... I don't know if it was worth the cost.

    Has anyone considered why you would have a contact list of 500 people in a SQL database, and not a simple csv or txt file?
    Seems kind of weird to use a database platform for something so small.

    Have you considered using an email sending platform that allows sending unsolicited emails (while remaining CAN-SPAM compliant)?

    I would suggest using a software that allows importing cold contacts and then, when they convert to opted-in leads, move those contacts to your CRM or MA software.

    As another poster indicated, actually using such emails to send messages is probably not going to work, firstly because without opt-in, your autoresponder won't accept the addresses, and secondly, the ethics of doing such are questionable. Selling it on to other parties is illegal, according to the CAN-SPAM Act.

    There is, however, an ethical way to use all those emails, and that is to build a Facebook group named an audience. You can upload a list of emails to Facebook and the platform will match those addresses against its user database to find Facebook users, who you can then target by running a sponsored advertising campaign
