I always talk about the best practices, but never about the worst practices. Here are some, based on personal experience:
  • Have a blessed day
  • Thanks in advance
  • No sign-offs at all
  • Take care
  • Later
  • Thx and other abbreviated sign-offs
  • Yours sincerely

    You should tell us why you think they are worst practices. I might agree with "Thanks in advance" as that is presumptuous. Or "Later" as that is how one would talk to his/her buds. But the rest? I do not see how they are "Worst" practice. So how would you end an email?

    If you need someone else to tell you how or how not to end an email, you prob'ly shouldn't be sending emails in the first place. It's staggering how many people are incapable of thinking for themselves. Staggering.

    I totally agree that the ending depends on the content of email and who are you writing to, but in business mailing it's not really appropriate to write "Have a blessed day" or "Take care"

    Because it introduces religion into a business communication....why is that difficult to grasp?


    It is difficult to sell to people on an email list - everything you write in an email can either sway someone to buy or not to buy. When you add either religious or political references to an email you risk losing interest of some on your list. Why risk that?
