Cold email marketing for B2B SaaS, lead quality (general mailbox vs. decision maker)

Hi All, for getting started with cold email marketing for your SaaS, if you have a list of emails for the general inbox of some potential target customers, is it worthwhile to email this list? Or is it better to work on getting higher quality contacts of the decision makers (ceo/operations manager/etc). Target customers range in revenue from $1M to $20M

I'm not sure I understand your comment. Can you rephrase?

Hm... I've heard different things about cold emails regarding unsubscribe... since they were never on a list to begin with. It acts more like a personalized email that was sent directly so there wouldn't be an unsubscribe... that is what I've heard at least.

If you send your emails to an audience you don't know, there are huge chances that you will be facing spam reports. Other than this, it will cost you your IP, and brand reputation.

What are the chances they spend time reading cold, unsolicited emails? More likely those emails go straight to the spam folder.

that is what I've heard at least.

You need to go to the email section on this forum and READ through threads there.

I'm certainly not in the target financial range you mentioned
here, but when my website first went live innDecember of 2022 I was bombarded by emails for web development services.

I didn't realize I was being bombarded of course, until one day a few weeks later i accidentally dipped into my Spam folder lol

Proof that a bunch of unsolicited emails to me went right to Spam.

However, another funny thing happened too.

Some of fhe followup emails from my actual clients, mid thread conversations, legitimate replies, also started landing in my spam folder too.

Even my new assistant, somewhat of a technical expert, couldn't figure that one out lol

It is better to work on getting higher quality contacts of the decision makers. I fear the cold email list would simply just land in the spam folder.

I think targeting higher-quality contacts like CEOs and operations managers is often more effective for SaaS cold email marketing. which can lead to more meaningful conversations and a higher likelihood of conversion.
