I have a couple of websites with OK domain ratings (40-50DR). I don't use the sites for much and have been asked to sell links to other sites on them. These would be do-follow links pointing to legitimate sites (i.e no gambling, adult etc). Any idea how much I should sell a link for on these? I doid a Google search and seems the range is $100 - $1000 per link but that seems high to me. Also, do I sell these as one-off charges or they pay this per year?

Depends on numerous factors such as whether the website gets traffic, the ref domains, DR, the niche. If they are effectively PBNs with zero traffic and few ref doms, I wouldn't expect too much.... if you are planning to turn them into real websites with real traffic then you can charge a bit more... a decent 'niche edit' with real traffic, 200 ref doms and for a competitive niche may cost $200/$300. A crappy PBN with 30 ref doms and zero traffic may cost $25. You're only going to be able to charge big bucks ($1000) for big branded sites. Homemade blogs will never get that, you're talking about nationally known websites when you're into those amounts.

Most people charge a one off rate in my experience.

Thanks - these are content sites, well established. They have about 15,000 backlinks and 6000 organic traffic per month. I'm thinking around $100-$150 per link for these. More like the homemade blog scenario, but a bit more nice as they are about complex math and psychology, so a bit more than simple blogs.

There is a bit to consider here. If the site is about "complex math and psychology" you really only want to offer links that goto sites related to "complex math and psychology" or a decently close parallel.

There comes a point after you sell off links to other topics 5, 6, 10 times for your little $100 that Google says "hey something doesnt look right here" and you might kiss your traffic goodbye.

If the links are in Context to your site... I would say $500 one time all day long. Get your traffic up to 10,000 per month and in this specific space "complex math and psychology" you could be in the $1000 mark.

Thanks. Yes, i'm definitely conscious of the links going to relevant sites. I think this is a key part of any link selling process. I think I've been thinking about the links too cheaply and not taking into account the niche content of the site.

Selling backlinks is a controversial topic, which is understandable given the impact it can have on your rankings. If you have a website with acceptable domains and ratings, you can sell links to other websites.

When selling links, you need to consider a few things:

    • The type of website you're selling the link to. Is it trustworthy? Is it relevant?

    • The amount of traffic the website gets. If the site only gets a few visitors a month, the link could be diluted by all of them visiting your website as well.

    • The price you want to charge for the link. This can range from $100 - $1000 per link, depending on how strong it is and how many backlinks it has. The more backlinks it has, the more likely it is to influence your rankings in the long-term.

Why not sell the website if the domain authority and site authority is good .

You might make a few sales but that is not a good way for a website to build authority and sustain themselves .

I think you would be pulling hear out of your head selling links .

Selling the site seems to be a better option .

I think a site with 6000 monthly traffic and 40 DR could easily sell guest posts for $150. Just never mention it publicly on your website. But you can register it onto guest post marketplaces and see if you get some orders.
