The best FREE video editing software?
I'd be really interested to know if anyone has used any of these programs or has one they love which isn't on this list.
For me, Free is the optimum word here with new-business cash-flow being low!
Here are a few that are recommended:
Machete Video Editor Lite
Apparently, this is more of a simple program designed for cutting, copying, pasting and slicing. It only supports AVI and WMV and sounds quite basic. Ideal for the beginner perhaps?
Avidemux
This is another basic video editor which doesn't allow any audio enhancements or edits. It seems a little more technical than Machete as it supports more video formats (AVI, DVD, MPEG, Quicktime and MP4) and also has a few filters that you can use.
WeVideo
This is a cloud-based editor which automatically puts it at the top of the list for me! It's more advanced than the first two mentioned and has audio editing capabilities and commercially licensed music too. While it's free, the gratis version only allows 5GB storage and brands your videos with their watermark. Good to try but perhaps not for ongoing video creation
VSDC Free Video Editor
This comes with all the bells and whistles! It has advanced features such as object transformation and colour correction; it has audio-capability and all the features come with the free version. BUT if you want technical support you'll have to sign up for a subscription.
Wondershare Filmora
This is apparently a great FREE option that allows you access to more advanced features as your skills grow and you have more need for them. You can add music and finalise your video in just a few minutes, it's so easy to use.
The downside is the Wondershare Filmnora watermark that is added to all your videos but the paid version does remove this.
Blender
Blender sounds like it's the real deal in video editing! It has a 3D animation suite where you can model, render, motion track and lots more.
Personally, this sounds like it might be a bit overwhelming for someone with limited video editing experience such as myself, however maybe once I've got a bit more experience I'll give it a go.
There is lots more info in this article so have a read and let me know what you think.
