I suggest we try a mid week date, then nobody has issues about going away for the weekend.

I propose Wednesday at 7pm. I will choose a location close/in Birmingham city centre so everyone can easily reach it via transport.

Even if there are 4 of us, it is enough to get to know each other and find common areas of work/help.

Let me know who is in and if you have a suggestion for a place.

The earlier the better for me, as in 6.30 if it suited you all would be good for me. Also, my best is to be near as possible to Snow Hill station in Birmingham centre, as I will be coming in by train.

Just to confirm, we are talking about Wednesday 5th Jan?

I'm not from Brum, so will be driving in, i can make it earlier, for those who wish to meet sooner, (might have to get there before the rush hour anyway) but am flexible and will go with the majority.

And I agree, even if there are only a few of us, we should still go ahead

It looks like 6.30 works best for most people so we could go with that. Not 100% on a venue yet but there are plenty in the centre near Snow Hill so will work this out and post soon.

Humm the no pub issue has thrown me a curve ball... asi had the perfect location..

If anyone has a suggestion with the city centre zone (so everyone can get there via transport) then shout, if not I will finalise a venue by tomorrow, although it is a little harder for me as i havent lived here for 3 years...

  Not being funny but what about MacDonalds near Snow Hill? It's got a lot of room upstairs and FREE Wi Fi. I know it's not perhaps to everyones taste but it is the only location I know that is accesible and the aforementioned internet access. And they accept all ages

I'm not from the area, but are there any hotels near that area? We could meet in the lounge area (I found these - Hyatt Regency Birmingham, Ramada Birmingham, Jurys Inn Birmingham )

or leisure centres/cinema complex, like bowling alley

or late night coffee shops

I'm ok with either mcdonalds or a hotel lounge - I don't know the area well but fine to go along with those suggestions.

I'm also bringing my 15 y-old daughter (trying to get the IM 'spark' to ignite in her!) and although I rarely go to pubs so I'm not certain of the rules but I know that there are many pubs where children ARE allowed.

Anyone know the laws for certain?

Maybe we all just meet up around Snow Hill and find somewhere then and there?!

  It was a very informal and thought provoking evening. Thought provoking because Dee made us understand things that we were doing that basically wer holding us back and preventing us from moving on.

I already run a very successful weekly Skype meeting here in Germany, but as a trial - lets do a British conference call via Skype:

  Ok, although I'm organising the Euro Warrior Event some time in September, there seems to be a lot of demand for another event here or around Birmingham, so here is the deal:
  
  I will organise a one day event here in Birmingham!
  
  (full day with the option of an overnight stay for extra networking but finished within a day so that those who need to get home can).
  
  Depending on where we have it, we could have the event to close to free. It will be a mix of some guest talks and a lot of networking exercises.
  
  The only condition is you must come with something of value. You must have some skills, expertise or advice that you can offer the group - a room full of leachers is no good to anyone.
  
  I've done a few meetups now, and I have found that people who have spent 100 hours actively attempting to make money online are the best suited to these types of meetups. So send me a pm with some details of what you do and I'll add you to the event list.

Hello there!

I have a great venue, which should suit our purposes well.

Instead of a 'full day' I would like to trail first with a half day event, and then plenty of time for us to mingle.

The place has space for 24 people, so space will be limited. The cost will be £5 (but you must spend an additional £10 on food and drinks at the venue so you will have to pay £15 with £10 towards your tab).

The only question remaining is to identify the best DAY for this event. A weekday or weekend? Pro's of weekdays are that the venue is quite, weekends on the other hand may suit working warriors.

Remember:
This event is therefore limited to people who have a solid business idea and have spent at least 100 hours investing in it's progress. If you have some experience there is something you can offer the group and thus everyone benefits.

So lets talk days and get this booked.

It sounds good to me. What venue do you have in mind? Seems unusual to be putting money down a tab, not many places do that.

I would just like to give you my opinion on limiting people who have solid ideas. In all honesty I don't think it's fair to say that people shouldn't come if there just beginning because at the end of the day, we all start/started somewhere. As soon as they get going they might spring ideas out that could be pretty valuable. I think you should always try and spread the group.

Maybe charging for the even isn't such a good idea as well? I don't mind paying but it may turn some people off. I'm subscribing to this thread to keep myself updated on what's going on.

I do have a full time job so weekends is best for me.

Hey DK,

This sounds great. I'd like to be involved but I'm a bit wary about the 100 hours rule. I kind of have to agree with MajesticPhantom. I have heard that it's a good thing to meet with like minded people to gain knowledge and listen to what others are working on. It seems a shame to limit people just because they are new. Is it strictly online or can people looking into offline be involved? I'm sure I could contribute but would like to know how you'd feel about me attending?

Hi there, i am 17 years old, and live around 5 minutes from Birmingham City Center.

I am still learning, and even though don't have backpocket full of cash, i love searching around on the flippa marketplace for interesting sites.

I own around 3 active sites, one of them is a news site that i would say is an successful one, it's listed in the google news program, one of my other site's is a funny pictures community and i have another domain/site that hasn't quite finished developed yet, but it's related to the fifa football game, i have the exact keyword domain and the .com domain, - Site can be easily be profitable if set out well.

I would love to attend the event if possible, sat sounds good to me, we love to share my experiences/ambitions when it comes having a successful website(s) and what type of site i would like to build in the future.

Well I didn't realise we would be in a private room. From reading through the Feb I just assumed it would be quite a casual meet up not a formal event. Do you have any ideal dates yet?

Hi all

I'd be interested to meet up, I'm in the North Buckinghamshire area so not too far to travel. Can't do until after the 20th of March though

P.S Im also going to the Business 2012 show at the 02 in London if anyone else is attending? Its the weekend of the 18th March, that's Sunday and I'm staying over to attend on Monday the 18th too. It's looking like a great event. Richard Branson and Alan Sugar are keynote speakers. It's free to attend by the way.

I live in Derby, Derbyshire but own a business in Sutton Coldfield (Shake Shop) so if needs must I can help hold the meeting there although it is quite small so would have to be a reasonably small group. However I am pretty interested in just meeting up wherever.
