Usually tears and a dribbling nose accompany real crying. Watch the video again and tell me that you see tears or moisture on the face at any time.

The whole thing is there to bring attention to the cryer, not Britney.

It reminds me of the approach of many marketers. Fake it, try to fool your prospects into believing that you care so they sympathize with you and your cause. Underlying the whole "see my passion" display is the simple goal - get all the eyeballs and traffic that you can.

Steve, that was part of my point. It had nothing to do with Spears and everything to do with drawing attention to Crocker and his "crocker-dile tears"

(Sorry, I couldn't help myself.)

In the years since, the copycats have been busy. Go to YouTube and search on "leave Britney alone".

Before his fake tantrum, there is little mention of Chris Crocker. Since, he's been on several tabloid and sleazeball talk shows.

Umm apparently the experts here don't realize that appealing to emotion is EXACTLY what successful marketing is all about. So yes, crying like a bitch will probably work well for you...unless you're targeting badasses...then you'll just be called a bitch.
