List building with a blog?

I've been running my website for a month now, and its going as well as expected, i've even made some money, thanks to people here. But i'll get to the point, my website is a place where i post anime, gaming, and tech related stuff, and i wanted to know if after i get more traffic, i could use it to build an email list. I already post ads and affiliate links on my site, so i was worried promoting products to an email list from the same site may be redundant. Should i offer some sort of incentive for the newsletter products, like discounts?

Of course building your list is one of the best things you can do. I would even do it your number one priority. Having some banners and affiliate stuff on your site is good but having a list is like having traffic on demand. Most people might visit your site just once and leave then forever but if you gather their email you can build a relationship and market to them over and over and over.

This way you can also promote something with a higher price tag. Just test it out. Put a optin form on your sidebar maybe one underneath your posts and a test pop ups.

You're in one of my favourite markets. I push volume here.

By all means grow your list, but be selective in the opt-ins you gain. The standard way is to offer a relevant freebie and throw up a popup or advertise your list in prime website real estate. The standard way. The best way is to attract people ready to take action. Give you an example. You have a gaming site. Maybe you give away a freebie e-course on how to earn a little extra money by playing games. Pretty much 100% of the people joining will not at present be trying to make money from gaming. Your freebie gives them a basic method; your sales funnel upsells a high-end affiliate offer. You're growing a list of subscribers who have signalled a desire to take some form of action.

Now I'm not saying you use the exact method above. It's just an example of how to acquire the right type of subscriber. You'll need to get into the collective mind of your audience and consider an appropriate route.

    Hi,

Discounts could work, but really; email is one more channel through which you can connect with your readers. Calls to action to buy similar/or the same products, if presented through your blog and email doesn't seem like a problem to me. Be less focused on selling or getting and more focused on giving through emails. Like, I'd move your attention to over delivering through your blog posts. Go in depth, make an impact and then, send links out through your newsletter. Never hurts to create a free eBook as link bait either, showing off knowledge of the way cool niche you're blogging about.

Either way you're building such stronger bonds thru simple list building. I resisted for months, focusing more on creating eBooks and helping my clients. When I began list building a few months back things took off even more quickly than I thought they would. Get into people's inboxes, build bonds with them and they'll be reading and sharing your content quicker than you believe. like, in seconds. Because many folks live in their inboxes. You'll build those intimate bonds, and then, you'll prosper through email because your subscribers will grow to know, like and trust you.

Building a list would be one of the greatest asset to your business and compliments your site perfectly. You can continue to communicate with your visitors through your list and whenever you add something new to your site you just send a quick email asking your subscribers to check it out.

Make less ads on the actual Site and highlight the Optin form on your page . I know it is tempting at first to have those Aff. banners on the Site but in the long run you will make more money via email follow ups and building a relationship.
