Pro's and Cons of using built in Affiliate System vs JVZOO, Clickbank, or Other...

I'm currently working with a membership script that offers the option of using either the built in affiliate system, or integration with Clickbank or JVZoo.

I'm wondering...

If I don't have my membership listed publicly on marketplaces such as JVZOO, Clickbank, etc, but offer only an internal affiliate program, would this be more attractive for affiliates to promote since there might be less public marketplace exposure for the product/membership? (like discovering a hidden untapped niche).

Or, might offering an internal affiliate program be less attractive to affiliates, due to some vendors not paying out their affiliates on time, or ever, and therefore affiliates might be hesitant to sign up and promote?

If I do have my membership listed on JVZOO, Clickbank, etc, might it then receive higher exposure because of the actual marketplace, and affiliates "researching" products to promote etc, thus possibly attracting more affiliates?

I'd like to hear from both affiliates and vendors on your experience, thoughts, etc.

Any other questions that I should be asking / considering, let me know?

    if you dont have a solid reputation built up then running an in-house affiliate program will almost certainly nearly kill your affiliate recruiting before you get started for the very reasons you mention.

    as for you second part, yes, having your site listed in those marketplaces will benefit you significantly. It will depend on your offer and conversion rates and roi and such, but you will get affiliates just from launching on either of those platforms. how many and such is anyones guess, but there are a fair number of people who actively search those places for offers to promote..

    you also need to make sure you are NOT considering doing both. One or the other. .

    Create a "launch date" for your script, then announce it on these launch announcement sites.

    You will need to make your offer attractive to both potential affiliates and customers.

    You will also want to create an "affiliate tools" page that includes email swipe file(s), email subject lines, banners, etc.

    And, one feature your membership script really needs to make it most appealing is to work with an affiliate site like JVZOO and it is easy to set up and gives access automatically.
