How do you write content for your blog?

I know a lot about my niche. I also follow other leaders in my niche very closely and I read their content, and they write very good useful information.

For example lets say someone writes a post "how to grow your facebook page." And it gives very unique points.

How do I share that with my readers? Do I just simply rewrite it? I feel like I would be ripping them off because I would be re-writing someone else's full blog. How do you do it?

    Just rewrite others post isn't a great idea. Write the things you know, show your knowledge and experience in your writing. people sure love it.

    Yes, write what you know. If you want to share a specific topic, research on that first, rather depending on the one article. If you research more than one article on same subject you do not have to re-write a specific one.

    If you think you really need to share someones content with your blog readers, better post it to your blog with a link back to original site!

    You got the idea, now put things into your own words. Change the title around a little, and re-write the post in your own way.. don't just copy/spin in...Take what you read from it and re-write it the way you want.

      I strongly agree with you, at least you have to understand the content of the article was to be rewritten on your blog with your own writing style. Do not completely copy the article without giving a source, respect other people's work. .

    Mine is a tech blog and I mostly share how-to-guides (usually the ones which I had trouble with), Free Useful tools on the internet.

    I get topic ideas via search terms. I try to find what people are searching online or what led them to visit my blog and then I write a relevant article related to it.

    I do a Google search for the targeted idea/keyword. Then, I go through all the relevant articles in top 30, writing down all the golden ideas (just the ideas, not the actual content). Now I've got everything I need for an article that is meatier than all the others.

    It's good to know that you know a lot and you understand your niche. It's also nice that you're following the leaders in the industry and learning from them.

    But to be honest, re-writing someone else's work is not a good idea. Instead of re-writing, why don't you create your own original content based on what you learned from these leaders and based on your understanding of your niche.

    Because you too can become great and can become a leader in the future!

    I recommend that you write what you know about. If you find the topic of growing your Facebook fanpage to be of interest, why not do some research, test some stuff out and document your success (and struggles) on your blog? Not only will you come across as way more credible, but you'll be learning something that you can apply to your own business.

    For example, I was doing some research one day and learned that Pinterest can bring a good amount of traffic to certain sites (depends on the niche, don't recommend it for IM). I wasn't sure it'd work until I tried it myself. As it turns out, it really does work and something that can implemented quite easily. You basically just got to figure out how to get followers, and be sure to start getting followers before you promote your stuff.

    3. Plan date and time of publishing.
    4. Write post to your blog, based on keywords.
    5. Post it and get traffic to your web site.

    Okay this is what I did.

    I started by clipping out the useful bits out of the articles I read from the top leaders in my niche with ever note. I read a lot of articles since I follow them on Feedly and added Google Alerts for my niche on there. Then I took out my notepad.

    Put 30 minute timer on my phone, and just typed non-stop. No googling nothing, no checking notes, no stopping, even if I wrote crap. If I wasn't sure abotu something i wrote it down with the mind set that ill edit later.

    I didn't worry about grammar, spelling, or facts. I wrote 1500 words. And I took a break, and tomorrow I'll be going back and editing it with the right facts, spelling, and grammar for publishing.

    ^ Seems like a good approach!

    As I see it, there are 2 way to approach this though: 1. the way you just did or, 2. you could write your article, add your own point of view and your own ideas to it and then link to the original article as well. This way, you don't risk being seen as the guy who steals ideas (it can happen..), but the one who takes them and adds more to them!

    Never try to feed off of someone else's hard work and effort to benefit yourself. There is someone in Virginia who has visited certain specific pages (of my blog) over and over between last night and this morning.

    Usually when you see someone coming back to a post 10 times in one day, means that they are most likely trying to copy or rewrite.

    That's plagiarism.

    There are universal laws that are governing all of us right now whether we like it or not. If you want success, you will have to work for it.

    There are no short cuts.

    Most people who try to copy my stuff usually end up with an expired domain.

    Always happens.

    It's okay to read info from the leaders in your niche and after awhile, you will become knowledgeable yourself just by reading their stuff.

    So after you learn from their stuff, a lot of data should be naturally downloaded to your brain in the form of knowledge.

    Take that data and add your 'own' spin on things along with your personality.

    Don't try to be like them (leaders) if you are not.

    Be you and give your 'own' value.

    If you want success, you have to put out good energy to the universe before it can reflect that energy back to you.

    Listen, everyone that has written any type of information has used material that they got from someone before them. College courses and source material is nothing more than passed on information from one generation to the next.

    I would suggest not worrying about it too much. Just write what you've read in your own words add your own personal spin on it and any other relevant source material you can find.

    There is rarely any new thing under the sun.

    The best advice I can give you is to read other people's content and then get some ideas how to write your own stuff. I never suggest that you copy anyone's work because this can be detected and you can get your website shut down.

    Always write your own stuff.

    If you want to share an article with your readers that was written by others, you can post it on your website but include the authors real name and resource box/link to their website. Don't copy the content and then tell your readers that you wrote it yourself. Be honest.

    You want to create blog content that solves people's problems,always keep that in mind.

    If you're in the internet marketing niche the Warrior Forum is a great place to find topics to write about. Q & A sites (Quora and Yahoo Answers for example) are also great places to find content to write about. People frequent these type of sites all the time looking for answers to their questions/problems.

    I use a social network system called MarketHive that allows me to put together groups of other "experts" and "like minded" writers within my niche. These groups allow me to create a cocktail in collaboration, which gives us all far greater content rich feeds we can publish to our blogs. It is very effective and unique.

      Yes, the Market Hive system (I use it's blogging system, also) takes the worry out of feeding content of other bloggers on your own website, since they and you have mutually agreed to feed into the same blog feed cocktail.

    It's good the way you are finding hot topics but you shouldn't just rewrite the information. You should read through it and other resources then put your own information together in your own words and also changing up the title a little.

    Provide value for your readers. They don't need rewritten content. If it is your blog, and you are the author, they need YOUR opinion, YOUR tips, and YOUR experience.
    Watch links in my description, English is not my first language, but recently I've written a long post about my experience. It is not rewrite, it's something like a story.
    I think, you should share your opinion. If you are from the US, you should be happy, because you have an opportunity to write.

      A short summary of what another expert writes with your unique take on it and how it affects YOUR readers.

      Then, take the other expert's findings, create a new theory to expand what you just learned and test it, test it, test it.

    First, I use Google's keyword planner and find keywords that are low in competition but heavily searched. Then I create an enticing topic using the keyword after which I spend close to 30 minutes doing due research. I then switch off the internet and pick up the treasures and compose it besides including my own views and opinions. This is believe is original work

      I see we have a lot of experts...good for you.

      I have had my blog since 2002. I always write my own posts.
      I want to make the posts personal to my readers.

      I don't quite understand why people starts a blog then don't want to write about
      the niche they decided to start the blog about or the subject.

      Just my personal opinion.

    You can read books and articles in your niche which usually will give you ideas throughout the day.

    Research others people's work in your niche and get ideas from them, but do not copy their work of course.

    You can you use other people's articles as a guide, but put your own spin on it.

    Do some keyword research and write articles off specific keywords that may not have a much competition to get readers to view.

    Follow people in your niche or watch videos on Youtube to spark ideas and constantly keep your mind focused on your niche.

    When an idea comes to you write it down immediately so that you have a list of ideas to work off when the time comes for you to begin writing your content.

    Your content doesn't always have to be in written format. You could do videos as well or a combination of both.

    OPTION 2. Think of ways how the content that you just read can be significantly more relevant to a different target audience ...
    You can do this by pinpointing a different and more specific target audience, and by integrating your own specialized expertise ...
    For example, if you just read a "How to Grow Your Facebook Page" material, and if your specialized expertise is Youtube and Dailymotion video marketing, then your content can be something like "Get More Facebook Fans Through This 15-Step Youtube and Dailymotion Video Marketing Guide" ...
    Of course, integrate your own tone, style, personality and character into your content ...

    OPTION 3. Find popular news stories that have high relevance to the guide that you just read ...
    With some creativity, you can write an interesting and informative material for a specific target audience by also integrating your own specialized expertise ...
    For example, if the guide material is "How to Grow Your Facebook Page" and the relevant news story is "Google Announces Significant Shift to More Mobile-Friendly Page Results Globally, in All Languages, Starting This April 21", and if your expertise is SEO, then you'd most likely know what to do ...
    Of course, integrate your own tone, style, personality and character into your work ...

    Sometimes its not just about the content but the way it is written.
    Work on your writing style, making it interesting and be consistent with your presentations.
    Each article i write, if its inspired by an interesting article that i read, then i will research at least 3 other articles in the same group.
    I read all before writing and i will end up with a unique but richer juice from the others

    There is so much information on the same subject out there. Just write what you know. People respond to others when they write something in their own voice. Also, if you want to do a pillar post, you can also use curation, giving credit to where you have read something.

    If you use someone else's material, cite it, and link back to the original article.

    If you really are an expert in your Niche, you'll have different (and additional ) things to say about the topic than the original article.

    One thing that hasn't been mentioned, is sharing that article with your audience via FB or Twitter.. If you think it is so good, maybe your audience will as well.

    You could always write a brief summary and note that you "read this" on the other site and provide a link.. other than that i don't really know what else you could do..

    No you are not ripping it off unless you copy and paste it.

    Just say it in your own words. People connect differently and learn differently from other people. It comes down to style more or less. Maybe even add a video to it or more linked resources. All of which will also help your seo

    I write it myself. I provide content that's full of information & makes life easier for the reader/viewer.

    Luckily, I have my Master's in Professional Writing from USC so writing is the one skill I have.

    I write about what I want to know and in one of my niches (dating) a lot of my information is from what I've discovered on my own which makes it original (the dating niche is full of repeated, old drivel merely rewritten).

    There will always be something to learn and it can be from the leaders in the industry or another marketer. Whenever you learn something new, you can summarize the new information and write a blog post. You can also create a video or an audio. You can write it as a status update on FB, Linked In, Google + or any other social media platform. You're not stealing anything. You're sharing what you learned with others who may not have been wherever you were to get that knowledge. Top leaders in the industry, for example Ray Higdon, are the first to tell you that this is what you're supposed to do. So, go learn, take notes and share with others. This is how you become valuable in the marketplace.

    For the example you provided, it would be helpful to locate other sources of information about the subject. Then, you can write an article that draws from multiple resources instead of just one, at the very least. Looking at numerous sources may also give you inspiration for new ideas.

    I know this is a bit of a controversial strategy, but PLR isn't a bad way to get the bare bones of content. Unlike other people's published blog posts, there aren't any copyright issues involved. If you go this route, though, you should rewrite the article from scratch. Usually I've found that these articles are lacking in voice and personality, so it's easy to spice them up. You can also conduct additional research to beef the articles up.

    Before publishing, run them through Copyscape to see if it comes up as duplicate content. If you've done enough to rewrite the article, it should come up as original.

    If you can afford it, simple go to OnlineJobs.ph and get yourself a great writer. They come very cheap, upwards of $200 per month for a seasoned writer. They can do all the research for you and write great content.

    I currently use one and I pay her $500 per month because she writes great stuff. The leaders in your niche outsource most of that writing, trust me.

    There's nothing wrong with reading someone else's idea and putting your spin on it. But that's just it-You need to recreate it so it comes from you. From your vantage point. Everyone has something to offer from their unique point of view, but copying and rewriting is not really coming from the heart. You need to put your feeling, thought's and ideas into it. You need to put you into it! Simple....

      Wouldn't you say that it is not plagiarism when you always refer to your source if it is not your own idea? Then, we are not rewriting another person's blog, but writing our own, giving credit to the author(s) of those ideas plus adding our own.

      Indeed, there is no blogger an expert unto himself. Along the way, ideas are derived from another idea or ideas. But, when do we also comprehend that we cannot realize the ultimate source way-back-when of all ideas?

      By the same token, logic says you cannot build something upon nothing.

      Which means, we must come to a point of understanding that some ideas are generically understood from common experiences. It is when we state exact words significantly different than the generic that we need to give credit to the author of that quote.

      I don't think that any of us could write a blog if we didn't have some resemblance of freedom in this regard.

        This simplest way to explain this issue is to write everything in your own words. The wonderful thing about writing on the Internet is the system of hyperlinks. You can provide related information using text links.

        Although many authors allow quotes from their content for citation purposes, you may need written permission from them to do so. The simplest way to avoid this is to write only original content on your blog. Remember, you cannot copyright an idea, but you can copyright the specific words used to express a particular idea.

        If this seems complicated, just think of copy and paste. Copy and paste is not allowed under any circumstances.
        If you want to protect your website from this, (which is called "scraping"), there is a WordPress plugin called WP Content Copy Protection & No Right Click you can use.

        Even if you have someone guest post on your blog, you are responsible to make sure their content is not copied from somewhere else. There is an easy was to do this by using copyscape at copyscape.com. You just copy and paste any content you did not write from scratch into copyscape, it will tell you if it is plagurized or not. Grammerly is another site that does this.

        Most people are not aware of this, but you should only check 500 words at a time to minimize errors. If you have a 1000 word blog post, it should be broken into two pieces, and checked 500 words at a time.

        When it comes to curated content, you simply need to make sure that permission has been given for sharing the content that you use. Some social networks offer a system to do this automatically as in a news feed. If you want to use content outside of the social network, again you need specific permission to do so. The type of blog sharing used in a social network such as the one in MarketHive at markethive.com is designed specifically to be used in this way, and is called an RSS cocktail.

        There is another issue that comes up, and that is image copying which unfortunately is often more of an issue than text copywriting. When you need an image, you must be sure it it not copywrited. You need to check very carefully the terms of the website that you use, if you use free stock images, and if you purchase an image, you need to keep the record of your purchase.

        Even for free images, it is always preferred to cite the source in the image file. Under no circumstances can you do a simple Google search and use the images you find. They are most likely copyrighted.

          There are a few options available if you're interested in Quality Content on your Site:

          1.
          Check out BuzzSumo.com to view a list of the most Socially Shared content for a certain Keyword.
          Then dissect the headline - and use that as the foundation for your content. Don't plagiarize someone else's work. This process will help you create content that is likely to resonate with your audience. It is still time consuming to create new content, however.


          2.
          As JonLomb mentioned, permission must be granted if you want to post curated content on your site. That's where ContentMutual.com comes to play: it is a marketplace where website owners/publishers are able to ask Authors for permission to republish their article.

          Search for topics of your interest, ask permission, and republish on your site - often 100% free.

          If approved, the author is provided a small piece of code that will allow that article to be shared on your site. ContentMutual.com is holding a $25 limited promotion for new users. They are moving to Invite Only soon so if you want to participate I recommend joining now.

          3.
          Have custom content created from Scripted.com or WriterAccess.com and a bunch of other sites that offer similar services. But this can get expensive quickly.

    If you want to share the content that the other blog has written with your readers, you can do that simply by sharing that article to your social media fans.

    And if you want to write something similar, then give an unique angle to the article. For example, if you do a Google search, there are lots of articles on "How to grow your facebook page". Does that mean everyone has ripped someone or the other?

    No.

    You can write on the same topic. If someone has written 20 ways to grow your facebook page, you write 30 or 50 ways. And if some points from the other article coincides (which I guess obviously happens), give an unique angle to it, like how you do the task from you own point of view.

    The main thing is to incorporate your voice and style to the article adding a twist of how you do it or would have done it.

    I would say, in order to be an effective writer, it's usually best to become passionate about success in general. I also make it a point to make sure that unique insight is in the writing. For this reason, it's critical for all good writers to be avid readers, not just of other blog posts, but of books themselves.

    If you keep learning fresh concepts, your writing will follow suit.

So I leave the comment, and add the idea to my list of future topics. You might find this works for you. You might also link this in to your own networking or blogger outreach strategy.

    Write your post about how it specifically relates to your customers in your niche. The original article is most likely written in general terms or for the leader's niche. You add value when you can answer your niche's questions, address their issues, solve their problem. Then you can link to the original article.

    What that does is position you as the expert in your niche your audience needs to work with or learn from. It also shows you stay up to date with your industry's leaders and concepts.

    Now as far as the question asked in the title?
    I take what comes up with my clients, questions they have, problems I help them solve, etc. That becomes fodder for my blog posts. Their problems are not unique to them alone. Others in their niche have the same problems. My posts identify the problem and give a solution.

    If it's simple, the solution can be given in the post. Some times I put the solution behind a pay per view or share to view barrier. Other times the solution may be a bit more complex requiring a product or service. Then I link to a sales page for that.

  • I never use anything from another person unless I ask permission first.

    Most often people allow me to use their post and it becomes a Guest Post on my blog. And as Antonio mentioned what I do is ask the if they can change the title a bit and I write an introduction to the article.

    Another way I've done it is to write something about the topic with my own title and words and then link to other people's blogs.

    I do admit that a lot of my competitors share fabulous information on their sites, but I want my readers to have it all in one place. And, that's what I do. I probably read a lot more than I write! I gather information from different sources, verify authenticity, put in expert comments and also my own two cents into my content before publishing it.

    This is where creating your buyer personas comes in handy.

    Rewriting as if you are just shuffling or changing the words will not bring you any good.
    I suggest that you get the idea of that content and translate it on your own words, or perhaps opinion.
    Think of something that you can add up, something that you do not agreed on the original content.
    You'll definitely be able to create a new content based from a different perspective (yours).

    The best thing is to write what you know about. If you read someone else's stuff that you appreciate, read more on it and write a posts in your own words.

    Keyword research is also important. You can spend 30-60 min just doing research on Google Keyword Tools. Anything that comes to your mind niche related type it in and see if people are searching for it and how much competition their is.

    I have yet to do this, but you could use Fiverr to get someone else to do the research for you. I would assume their are some reputable sellers up their that really do their jobs and could assist you with finding keywords to write your article around.

    Main thing is stay consistent and keep learning.
