Do NOT Make This Market Samurai Mistake!

So I'm a total Market Samurai fan. Every site that I've setup so far has taken top positioning after some content gen and backlink building because I am able to target the right keyword niche out of the gate.

Here's a slipup I made though. Came across a keyword with an SEOT value of 45,000+ and Phrase Matched competing pages of only 500,000!!!

How sweet is that right?

So I bought the domain and started setting up the site. Content creation and everything.

About 12-15 hrs into the project we ran then numbers again...and changed the COUNTRY to just the US.

Numbers flatlined! SEOT value dropped from 45,000 to just 3,500!

Upon further investigation, my partner discovered that if we geotargeted ONLY the UK, the SEOT value was 43,000 there by itself.

So I ended up buying UK hosting and the .co.uk version of the original domain name and transferred the site over. Another 2 hrs of tweaks later and the project is back on track.

But what if I had gotten 3-4 months down the road with countless hours invested, took the #1 spot only to be left with 3,500 visitors p/day?

Lesson learned...always double check your Market Samurai numbers if you are targeting US traffic by setting the software to be country specific.

    lol I made that mistake once never again!! Market samurai is what I have to thatnk for my success.... I love it!! I dont really get all the features but the ones I do use are the dogs danglies... I dont pick a domain name without it!!

    You know, I can't even remember what country I have my MS set at... maybe I should check

    But on the bright side... 3.5k a day doesn't seem all that bad to me. But yes, that much of a difference is huge.

    I normally build a site if the competition is 50k or less and 100 visits a day... that normally makes it easy pickings for no1 spot and also just enough traffic to make a steady income... well it works well for me!

    Market Samurai ROCKS big time. And yes if you don't take special care about geo targeting, you will be taken aback by the numbers...!

    The good rule is to set the target to any country when starting keyword research.. that way you will know how much searches are there for that keyword from the country you selected

    Tips!!

    well once i find a keyword that looks too good to be true I stick it in to google and if you get the pink listings at the top and adwords down the side of the results its normally a safe bet.

    I also then use that keyword to get the domain name or as near to it as possible this just gives you a running chance. then I use the keywords to build pages an articles.

    Before I discovered MS I never really did keyword research cos it was tooo complicated but now its all I do in fact my Girlfriend gets fed up with seeing it on my screen...lol

    Since using MS my sites just continue to make money and well if used along side analytics you can see what works and what doesnt!!

    I built a site a while ago and stuck a bans site on it and did nothing it was only about a month later I remembered the site because it started appearing in my EPN account its now one of my top earners and yet its only been this last week or so that I have paid attentioin to it.

    Keyword research is definiatly the route to success!

    Thats a very useful tips. I just love market samurai and it helps me a lot. I dont get such features in any other SEO software.

    It is always a good practice to check the geotargeted visitors before building your site.
