$100 to Build a Business?

How would I take $100 and begin a sustainable business online that could begin to make at least some revenue fairly quickly? What specific steps would work the best? Not talking about "Get Rich Quick" - but spending some money in ads or other ways and seeing some sales soon after is important. What would you do?

Learning to make money online is a skill to learn not a lottery ticket. Thats why most don't make it in this industry simply because of the skills we need to learn in order to succeed with this.

In the end it all comes down to supply and demand and providing value to the marketplace.

    ok to answer your question.

Once you have your market and niche you need a funnel to send prospects through. This is called a landing page tied to a sales page. I'm sure you know the story but you give something of high value away for free and then tie your sales page into that offer. System I have and teach people to use cost under 20 bucks and it works.

in the end it does not matter what it is your selling. If you can't market it correctly then your not gong ot make any money. It's all done the same way.;-)

Such a simple statement, but then again - so deep.
You should put this in your signature, so people can see it and think about it.

    If it were me...

I'd create a product (info, graphics, software, video.. whatever) in a niche that I could provide value in.

Then I'd find places to advertise my new fandangled product for low/no cost (sales threads in forums are great value - less so here on WF though).

Once you've got some numbers, find some affiliates to promote for you, then create more products, sell them.. sell affiliate offers to your buyers list.. etc..

    Product cost: $0.00
Advertising: $20 - $40 (for most sales threads on popular forums)

Just.. don't sell junk, if your product doesn't make the world a better place, doesn't deliver on promises.. or otherwise isn't any good.. throw it out and start again.

    Cheers,
    Michael

It's a bit hard to tell. I would go with promoting as an affiliate. Sign up on clickbank, find something in a particular niche that doesn't cost much since lower prices would sell faster (in theory). This doesn't mean that your $100 will make you any sales, it also depends on how good the landing page is of a product that you are promoting. Also, it depends on how good and relevant your ads are to the offer. You can pay for Bing ads, Google and or Facebook ads but FB and Google are more strict.

For better conversions, you could try creating something for free and send that to your visitors in exchange for their emails. Once on the list, send them a few emails with more valuable info and then offer your affiliate program.

    Good luck.

    Here's one way:

    1. Determine Desperate Niche within an Evergreen Market.
    2. Domain.
    3. Hosting.
    4. Squeeze Page + Blog on Backend.
    5. Traffic : Socials, Forums, Videos.

    And here's another:

    1. Create a Product.
    2. Lock it Behind Membership Site.
    3. Bing Ads Coupon.
    4. PPC Marketing.

    ToMakeMoney,

Starting a sustainable business with $100 has more to do with your non-fiscal resources than the $100 ...

It could perhaps do you better if you were to think that you're starting out with nothing than just your existing expertise, available time, specialized knowledge, real world skills and professional B2B networks ...

You already know the answer - start educating yourself with the training you need to be successful.

You say you don't want a "get rich quick" scheme, but you already know the answer.

Start out by learning marketing, and how to sell products.

You're not going to get far with 100 bucks...That's for sure.

Yes, you can buy a domain and hosting with that, but if you are looking for "quick" results, then forget about that.

Like with anything in life, if you want to go faster, you have to pay more...

On a more practical side of things, you better start doing something, rather than thinking about how much money you'll need for this or that. In the beginning, the money doesn't really matter, because it's more about whether you have what it takes to stick with this, despite no revenue and keep pushing.

He can get plenty far. He can start a blog with that money, or a website, and build a Facebook following.

All he needs to do is know how to create content that sells and marketing that draws people in.

"begin a sustainable business online that could begin to make at least some revenue fairly quickly"

^^^ That's what the OP wants to do with 100 bucks. After he buys a domain and hosting, how much will he have left? 10-20 bucks, if that?

By all means he can do everything you suggested, but he won't see a penny in the next 2-3 months that's for sure, unless his first post on the blog is going to be a review about a 60" plasma TV sold on Amazon.

$100 is not going to get you very far. You will have to invest more then that. Even if you lose $500 or more to learn and test online marketing, it will still be worth it. You can and will succeed but you have to know that you will spend more then $100 in the beginning.

I disagree. $100 is plenty to start a business.

    Mind you...

Don't expect to make it back for 6 months to a year if ever..

    Provide quality content...

    Gain a following....

Have them share and build you up...

Give them what they want for FREE...

Then once you have atleast 5000 dedicated followers you should start to see a ROI...

    IF...

    You can market correctly.

These 10 lines of text sound very easy to complete. But these 10 lines could easily write a 200 page book. The possibilities are endless. You need to have a plan and you have to be passionate. Let your followers feel your passion and you will get better long term results then just trying to make a quick buck.

EDIT: I haven't tried it personally but I'm sure it's possible. You say you want a quick ROI, have you considered selling infoproducts on ebay? I'm sure with some HIGH QUALITY copy you could see some success? Do you have copy skills?

What are your strengths within the industry?

Why do YOU feel like you have what it takes to be a marketer?

    Are you a natural seller?

Do others come to you when they look to make a purchase?

    Are you influential?

Or do you just want to work from home and heard theirs money to be made?

Look inside yourself and play off your strengths.

    Here's a quick excercise.

    Name your top 3 passions.

    Name your top 3 skills

Report back the answer to this.

Start some FB Fan Pages. Do some blogging on it. Buy some Ads and build up some Likes.

      Run CPA offers on it

      If you can't make $100 back in 6 months to a year, or ever - then it's not a business - it's a hobby.

You need $0 to build a business. Well, that depends on what you want to do, but freelancing for example is completely free.

If you want an independent website that you have 100 % access to, then you only need to pay for hosting agreements!

So, start off free and use your $100 on hosting or a freelance business!

    Best,

I would say to find a niche, get hosting for a year or two, and hire a website designer to build you a good looking site with some content and products. I would recommend using adsense, amazon, clickbank, cpas, ebooks, hosting, etc in order to make your money back but be prepared to add plenty of content in order to start building up your ranks in Google. Blogging is more of a long term way to make income but that is what you are looking for right? It's the best way to have multiple streams of income that can end up making you a lot more once you start getting traffic

There are a lot of very experienced internet marketers on here who know exactly what to do.

So, take note of the replies you get in this thread, and learn from them.

We all have our opinions of course, and we can't all be right all the time

I would say with $100 you can certainly get started.

You could buy a PLR product like an Ebook, then make it your own by producing a video course based on what is in the eBook, adding your own twist, using free software like Jing to record your screen.

Register a domain and get some hosting, and set up an auto responder account with Mail Chimp who are free up to your first 2,000 subscribers!

You can promote your new product as a WSO and on JVZoo for example.

Earn as you learn - and rather than spend the $100, spend some of it, add to it, spend some more, grow it etc.

    All the best

    Trevor

Can't name an exact amount. Some people start with low capital and churn out highly profitable businesses. Others start with a lot of capital and crash and burn.

Whatever you decide to get involved with, put in the long hours and provide value. Don't try to shortcut things such as ripping landing pages / running spammy offers - do it right and you'll be amazed at how far you can stretch that $100.

Work hard and explore options that work for you. Consider how to build more resources, working offline, do some tasks on fiver, odesk, mturk etc.

Yes you can get started with $100, the reality for most of us is error and trial along the way. I agree that training is important and some times the best training is to get in there and try.

Don't expect everything you do to be a success so set yourself up so that if things don't succeed first time you still have a good chance to progress.

What are you good at? Who would pay for help with that?
