Affiliate Programs with Permanent Customer Tagging

Does anyone know of any affiliate programs that will permanently tag a lead as yours?

As in, you refer a lead/sale to them and it'll be in their system as yours forever so that if they do any follow up or launch any new products. You'll get affiliate credit for it for a lifetime.

I've been trying to find a solid company that does this with no results.

Anyone heard of any affiliate programs that offer this?

You will probably not find any. The best I have seen is for future purchases of up to 60 days, but not permanent.

Think of it this way, you do a great review for product A. and someone purchases through your link. Six months later the vendor comes out with a new product, Product B. I do a great review for product B and the person that purchased product A from your link, finds my review and decides to buy. Why should you get the commission

I don't know why any company would want to do that. The affiliate that gets the sale should be the one earning commission.

If you could 'perma tag' customers that could lead to massive cookie stuffing, couldn't it?

That brings up a very interesting point. I was debating cookie date v.s. lifetime recently and you gave some great food for thought.

On a side note it is not always done through cookies. The one I was looking at doing linked a customer account to a affiliate account in the system. And presto lifetime.

I agree, I've seen very few if any permanent customer tagging over the years, if any. Don't remember any myself.

Same here. I remember when Amazon started out, they made it sound as if it was a lifetime thing, but nope. I do believe they are a 6-month'er. Been a while since I looked.

Since I was in sales for a long time on the street, where customer loyalty is something your fight tooth and nail for on a daily basis, it never occurred to me that a tag would exist. Figured I just had to keep bringing in the traffic and give them incentive to click out through my, ahem ... judiciously placed affiliate ads and text links.

Which, let me tell you, is a worthy battle when you own a content site like I did.
