A Suggestion For People Selling Resell Rights

I recently bought a product with resell rights. Of course, they didn't list the restrictions of the license on the sales page...I'll change the exact numbers to protect the guilty, but my numbers are close enough to illustrate the situation.

I bought the resell rights for about $9. In the license they said that the product was worth $100 and that I can't sell it for less than $30, as not to "devalue" the product.

Let me get this straight, if I sell it for less than $30 I'll devalue the product, but you can not only sell it for $9, but also include resell rights as well and that doesn't devalue your "$100" product?

You've made it impossible to resell the product and give people the best deal. Instead of me selling it for $30, I should send them to your link where they can get it for $9, even if the resell rights are basically worthless because of your license conditions.

Suggestion for anyone planning on selling resale rights. Make sure your price for your resale rights package is higher than the lowest price you allow it to be resold without resale rights, otherwise you're making it impossible for your buyers to give the best possible deal when reselling what they purchased in order to resell.

I understand PLR licensing, But like Kurt, I find them difficult to figure out sometimes. Using Kurts example. If I get PLR and, like most PLR creators encourage, I change the whole product essentially making it my own. Then why can't I charge what I want.

You can. That's the meaning of private label rights. The fact is that you can recreate the product and give it away if you like.

Some may disagree...but they will be wrong.

      You can.

      There's a not-so-subtle difference in PLR rights and Re-Sale rights (Kurt's example).

I typically go for licenses that say can be given away as bonus gifts with purchase over $X.XX

For example, someone buys hosting from my business and I give them extra bonuses, themes, plugins, etc.

I think resell rights license is different from PLR license, when you buy a product with a resell rights or master resell rights license, then there are more restrictions on what you can do, and therefore the author has the rights to force you (for example) to NOT sell under XX price or to not give It away, so that you do not devalue the product.

If you want more freedom to do whatever you want with a product, then that product needs to have a PLR license.

Typically an MRR license gives you the right to resell PLR rights and source files. A typical PLR license gives you the right to edit, sell and claim ownership but does not allow reselling of PLR rights or source files.
