Marketing as a Personality vs. a Brand/Company?

I know this depends on a lot of factors, going from the target demographics to the seller's ability to sell products. That said, I have reservations about selling an information under my own name to avoid muzzling myself online, but I have concerns about whether selling webinars/informational products online as a company/brand would be hindered b/c it could sound less personable.

Is this a non-issue from your experience or is there any contemporary study showing which is better generally?
#brand or company #marketing #personality

Good question, I think the type of product/service would also have an impact on your decision.

For example, if you were starting a online ecommerce site then you would promote the business as a brand/company.

However, if you were a motivational speaker then you would be the brand because you would personally provide the service, and therefore would market the personaility as that is what you would be providing.

Thanks for the feedback. I'm thinking the personality while keeping my personal Facebook profile private. I always have the flexibility to go with the other if one doesn't work out well enough, right?

I have been able to land clients by sending out very personalized emails to them. Although I do manage many companies, I personally feel you can close more easily if you go with a personal touch (as opposed to a corporate one).

In the IM world, I've learned that visitors buy from people they know, like and trust.

Example: I don't buy from DigitalMarketer. I buy from Ryan Deiss. It's his personality and teaching style that closes the sale. Having a company with dozens of employees and a branded presence only supports my decision in making that sale by displaying his success and ability to create a brand.

Same goes for Jimmy Brown vs his brand, Earncome.

I think that you have gotten a lot of good advice already. If your starting out I would just let the branding part be at the back of your mind. Do your thing and let the market brand you.

I really don't think it matters either way. Just pick one and stick with it.

If you market with you own name, I think you will build a deeper bound with your customer and you will get a more loyal fanbase. Also, they might retain your name better than a company name

I prefer Branding my Name. Imo, you can never go wrong with that

Sometimes a Company Brand name can limit you long turn especially if you start diversifying in different Markets and Niches and decide to run with something else
