Introducing Internet Marketing into a fairly unaware market and how to go about it

Internet marketing, Social Media marketing and SEO have yet to really take flight where I am currently and I'm working on the best strategies to introduce it as a highly successful method of marketing and business recognition.
How would you go about it? Door to door offering to local businesses with a pitch?

    I am pretty sure your prospects had read emails, go to FB or search on google at least once... right?

    Well How would you be offering people IM strategies, FB, Google, etc, if you are not using them to attract your customers? What credibility will you have if you go door to door and tell your potential customers about IM and the other technologies?

    I would go first by using all these technologies to attract the customers, and then once they are your customers, create a referral program for them to bring other customers.

    That is what I would do.

    If they are website owners , you can get their contact details like email, phone number and contact them directly with your offers of promoting their business. Promoting local business has it own advantages and disadvantages and keep them in mind and not offer unrealistic expectations as they can always come to your door knocking for a REFUND
