Physical papers no, local newspapers have been discontinued more or less. Get local monthly newspaper/flyer with ads. Will flip through that.

Online - Purchases are made via Amazon, Ebay. Do look at Craigslist. Facebook market place just to see what is for sale.

Local deli was selling the Star Ledger awhile back. Picked up the Sunday paper a few weeks in a row. The women at the counter told me it would be cheaper to subscribe for delivery. She thought I was looking for Coupons. At the time was looking at Classifieds hardly anything in there.

I think a blend of online and offline marketing makes sense which is commensurate with the demographics of your market. My 87 year old father still reads the daily newspaper but most of my Baby Boomer generation friends and family in their 60s and even 70s spend regular daily time on Facebook these days. Yet everyone I know in their 30s and younger resent the "older generation" oversharing on Facebook, so they have migrated to Instagram and SnapChat.

The clear dominant players in the online classified world includes Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, LetGo, OfferUp, etc. There is also a clear trend towards specialty classified sites dedicated to certain niches like Real Estate, Land Investors, Classic Cars, Boat Parts, etc.

The size of the classified section for our local newspapers especially on Sundays is a reflection of how their market reach has drastically decreased.

Yeah, I get the local newspaper, and look at the Gold Clipper type magazines.

The local "classified" newspapers are almost never looked at. And the classified sections are now about one or two pages, when they used to be the whole paper.

Online? E-Bay and Amazon, almost entirely.

I dont think there is any argument as to who specifically reads a printed newspaper... The "easiest" way that I have found to figure out if its "worth it" or not is to look at circulation numbers.. weekday and weekends and if they do a special midweek food section what the circulation on that may be.

From personal experience I just use Sunday circulation... and I can count on the phone ringing from 10am to about 1pm every Sunday - and then I might get a few calls during the week.

I'm 26, but I still prefer reading print media. There's just a more "physical" feel to reading print media, unlike online sources where I often stumble across a subscription paywall.

Over (over) 55 and yes, I still read print. Every time we go out and there is a print paper of any type at door, pick it/them up and read at least some of the publication. Ones good enough, they come home with me and entertain me over coffee the next morning.

Just last week, one of the "real paper - not glossy" magazine / newspapers was getting ready to be used to protect table from spray paint. An ad caught my eye, read it and the fellow got some business from me. So yes, print ads still work to some degree.

I'm 55 yo and would never read an offline classified.
That is why the "BuyLines" newspaper is gone over 15 years...

My wife and I get the free local classified papers (Thrifty Nickle, Pennysaver, or Myshopper) when we are out and about, usually to find yard sales, flea markets, and estate sales. other than that we don't usually read the local papers

I am 25, but I prefer reading printing media. Electronic media is effects on eyes and our eye sight weakness.
