Before you blow off the idea - READ through it. This is a plan that works - it is ALL laid out for you by someone who did it and it is still a business his family is involved in. It can be scaled up or down.

If you don't want to - or can't - sell your $500/month dumptrailer - is it possible to rent it out to another landscaping/tree business?

Personally, I don't think 'posting small ads' has much promise for income potential though I could be wrong about that. A.I. is taking over much of that business today and you need to think bigger. Also, with back issues...work that keeps you sitting in one place for hours may not be the best idea.

It depends, too, on what income you expect to earn. If you want something to keep busy, posting ads might be enough ...though I'm not convinced of that.

The ebay plan is straight forward and the beauty of that long forum thread is that everything has been tested by someone successful . In fact, I believe savidge4's wife now runs their ebay business with just a couple hours a day.

Ebay is also a good plan if you have a hobby that could earn money. Years ago, my son and a friend bought old, broken pinball machines....rehabbed, rewired, re-soldered...and sold them for excellent profits on ebay.

Also, your 'tree' experience might be transferable to 'info products'. Tree pruning/maintenance/planting/diseases/regional gardening, etc. could be kindle books or 'reports' you sell with your own small ads. That might be a better use of 'creating ads' than doing ads for other people.

You can make money by doing what you stated, but you will have
to work at that. What you charge for an ad depends on running
time, word count, and other factors.

You seem to have enough skills and knowledge to be able to make
money online, but again, there is work involved.

There are hundreds of ways to make money online, and once you
get started it would be advisable to have two or three income
streams just in case.

eBay can be a great option, but I wouldn't want to be riding around
hauling things, you need something soft that does not require
physical labor.

About 20 years ago, I operated an eBay dropshipping business, it
was quite lucrative for me as my average sale was $3,000 but that
was then.

This is now and from what I can tell, things have gotten highly
competitive and saturated as millions of people are dropshipping,
etc. Back when I was doing that, dropship wasn't even a word we
used for that business model.

I am a web developer, and besides that I publish on Amazon, sell
digital downloads, and use A.I. for various purposes.

I would advise you to read through this forum, read books, and
watch tutorial videos. Topics to search for are make money online,
home business, work from home, side hustles and passive income.

Just getting some background here.

What did you do with the tree trimmings? I see these guys shoving smaller branches into a chipper of various sizes. Or they throw them on the truck. Where do you take this stuff?

Now I am big on INFORMATION products, and converting your stored value of experience and knowledge into cold hard cash. So I have that bias. And think you need to spend a little time documenting your journey, with the possibility of creating information products, and don't forget your BACK TROUBLES journey, which you should also document and share.

But I am curious as to what happens to all that tree cleanup materials, who uses it and what is that market like? And if you used the dumptrailer, where did you actually dump the stuff? (I ask because I have an idea, but have no knowledge of it at all.)

Start where you are with what you have and work it out from there.

I think YouTube is your best friend. If you have videos of you doing your previous job, I think they will be popular on YouTube.

So this may be a change of coarse after doing some brain-storming so bear with me. And I need to make a change from the far beginning. My path doesn't have to be "stay at home". As from previous post, I'm interested in flipping, hauling, etc. both that would involve getting out and about. So let's redefine from the beginning, and say I'm looking to get out of heavy tree work as it's not for me with my l4 and l5 spinal injuries from a gym accident, and the pain from tree work is agonizing on my back.

With that out of the way, I'm looking hard into the idea of flipping. Too many cars require dealers licenses that I don't want to worry about for the first 1-2 years at least because that's a whole separate commitment. However, I do like bigger and maybe more risky investments. Such as doing a few cars, trailers, and heavy equipment, bobcats, skid steers, trenchers, chippers, zero turns, etc.

The reason I like this idea is because I've already put it to the test. Years ago, I made $10,000 in a months time from buying 8 Diesel Powered Zero Turns from their old stocks and resisting them on market place and Craigslist.

I also like this idea, because I live right in the middle of Dallas, Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. With that said, anything I've ever listed on Marketplace sold within 48 hours. And as mentioned, I can haul any equipment under 26,000 lbs with my Dually / 14k trailer set-up.

In the meantime, I would like to start hauling junk just to keep steady cash flow while I'm waiting on the items to flip (sell.). This will also allow me to command a higher price for them.

Now I need ideas on the hauling aspect. Would a lead generation service be worth the additional cost? Or should I stick to the hundreds of facebook groups and contractor groups I'm a member of on facebook?

As Kay said an info. product could be a possibility. It seems like you have the 'know how' to OFFER something of value to this particular niche. Which is miles ahead of the typical Warrior who does it backwards and chooses a Niche they know nothing about. So start out by trying a 2 page Hotsheet with step by step vital information on how to make it in the tree/landscape business. Test that and see how it does.

Then if the results are good expand into a whole e-course or video course on the topic.

Yes very possible just google facebook ads and follow the instructions to make your ad. Bing and google also have ads services. Not sure about the others as much. You can set your budget accordingly on the platforms yourself but it may affect how competitive you are if you only have a low budget. It depends how competitive (i.e. how highly searched/ relevant) your keywords are and the competition within your chosen sector.

Let other members give you business ideas. I can only advice what type of marketing you should do no matter what business model you choose. Don't forget to execute content marketing, because nowadays, it is the most effective way of marketing. Remember, content is king.
