Confirmation Email Issue

Hello all,

I'm pretty new to email marketing and I have a problem with getting enough optin prospects to click on the confirmation email. Basically, here's the situation. I have 2 autoresponder accounts one is with Icontactsoft and the other one is with Aweber. I used my squeeze page with both Icontactsoft and Aweber. I noticed that I got double amount of optins using the Aweber optin email box versus the Icontactsoft email optin box. The issue lies in the fact that Aweber is a double optin service and Icontactsoft is single optin. I ran a quick test and out of 24 prospects that provided their email using Aweber only 6 of them clicked on the confirmation email. I would get only about 12 or so with Icontactsoft but all of them would get to my download page as it is single optin.

I would like to stick with Aweber as I think it's a more efficient email marketing service. My question is, how do I increase the number of people clicking on the confirmation email? I seem to be losing too many potential subscribers. I placed a message in my optin email box stating (check inbox or spam folder for confirmation email) but that didn't seem to help. I would greatly appreciate any feedback/advice with this issue. Thank you.

The question is: Do people are able to get the download without clicking the confirmation link?

If so, they have no reason to click the confirmation link.

If they do not get the download before confirming, you should try different text on the thank you pages. Are you using the basic thank you page from Aweber at the moment (you will find the option to this under Step 2 under "Web Forms" in Aweber)?

You should also try adding a small amount of text on the main optin page sating the person to use a real email as he will get hi download sent to that e-mail.

If you have any more question, don't hessitate to ask here

Put a quick note on your thank you page reminding people to whitelist the email address so it goes to the inbox instead of the junk folder.

Replace a message in your optin email box stating (check inbox or spam folder for confirmation email) with (check inbox or spam folder for email with your download link)

Or try put this note on your thank you page:

Download link will be sent to your email. Your details will never be shared. Just like you, we hate SPAM with a passion too!

    I hope this help

It can depend on the subject line in the confirmation message.
As with everything else in IM you have to test. test and test?
    Try different subject lines.
I found my confirmed optins increased when I did that.

    good luck

Well, if you prefer, you can turn off the double opt-in feature at Aweber.
Aweber itself doesn't recommend that, here's the message you get when you try to turn it off:
"Do you want to disable verified opt-In for web form submissions?

We strongly recommend that you keep this enabled to prevent malicious subscriptions and false spam allegations."

So, it's your decision, but please keep in mind that you may introduce new problems by turning off the confirmation...
