Recommendations for a good email program?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a decent program to send emails from a database.

I have a few databases of opt-in's gathered from forms. The info was saved to MySQL databases, so I cannot use a service like Aweber.

What I want to do is be able to send out emails either via my dedicated server or one of my ISP's SMTP (though most have limits and charge a lot for quantity).

Any recommendations or suggestions would be appreciated, particularly if you have direct experience.

Thanks in advance,

bfas

    Try Auto Response Plus.
They will install it on your server at no cost
and you can import your list.

I'll preface this by saying I don't know if you've called us and talked to
someone here, but based strictly on your post, I'm not seeing the
connection between having subscribers stored in a DB and not being
    able to use AWeber.

We do offer the ability to import subscribers, and are happy to talk to
    you about migrating to AWeber.

Any questions, get in touch or shoot me a PM.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Justin,

Thanks for that; just sent you a PM.

The problem is the 'confirmation' that Aweber wants to send. These are confirmed opt-ins, and sending a new additional confirmation request will certainly result in a smaller list.

From what I read, you will only consider doing the import without additional confirmation only if I can provide proof of opt-in, tell you what I'm going to email, info about my business, etc.

While I certainly understand Aweber's concerns and caution, in this case it's going to be a no-go.

Pegasus Mail is one I used for a 1000 person list a bunch of years ago. It is based on your own computer. I just looked and it says it handles databases. PLUS it is free
Check it out at Pegasus Mail
It has been around for years.

I have interspire email marketer and use smtp.com for delivery. Its pretty sweet, and works well. My deliverable went up a lot when I started using smtp.com.

Also, You can import into aweber without re-verifying everyone, but there are a list of requirements: Can I Import Subscribers without Confirming Them? :: AWeber Knowledge Base

I've used this in the past but I'm not up on the latest version...

Gammadyne Mailer - Email Marketing Software

The version I used was able to connect to a database and send email out once you point it to the email field.
