Before anybody can recommend anything YOU should tell us what exactly your membership site is supposed to do.

What kind of features/functionality do you need?

You should choose a plugin that provides the features you require, and one that works well of course

  It's about what you need;
  
  1. Which payment gateway do you use?
  2. What features do you need, Pay Per Post, Multiple Membership level, autoresponder integrations etc.
  
  If you answer these two questions, i can recommend you the right option for you.

I don't need any fancy membership site. It would be a site where I provide video tutorials and useful information. There would be probably only one type of membership level and payment method type is PayPal. Payment would be on monthly basis. So its just a very simple membership site.

Yep, wishlist is the best one I have found. There is also one called DAP or something like that, not sure if its any good tho.

There was a new Membership Plugin just announced this week called Membership Lite. The link posted is to the WordPress plugin page.

This is a free "lite" version of a full feature membership plugin which is commercial.

I would suggest Neil H. plugin. The plugin itself only cost $1 but you can aquire addons as well.

He opened up a WSO about it, I bought the complete backage and it only cost me $51 which is considerably cheaper than most. He also supplies guides to help you set up certain parts of the plugin.

I have to echo what was said in the first few posts, decide exactly what you need then compare the various options (WishList, DAP, s2, MWX, Magic Members and of course Your Members), they all have similar features and the biggest differences are often in the price and support. So find the one that actually suits your needs rather than has the flashiest marketing or the most affiliate sites pushing it.
