How To Make Your Warrior Sig Banner Get More Clicks (Before/After Examples)

I've done a lot of banner advertising, and "small" things can really affect response. I've taken some existing Warrior Member banners (the Sponsor Offers in the signatures) and re-worked them to give a before/after idea of what I recommend:

Note: The actually banner examples start at the 2 minute mark, before that I'm giving tips on how to increase banner response. Anyone whose banner is used in the example who wants the reworked banner, IM me for it.

The banner examples I used were the first ones I could find, I don't mean offense to anyone's existing banner, obviously. :-) There's nothing "bad" about any of them, I'm just showing, based on my experience, what could make them better.

This is normally stuff I share with my subscribers, but... if posters' signature banners are more profitable that's good for them, and they'll renew monthly and that's good for Allen, and then the Karma Fairy may Knight me and then I can call myself "Sir Tim", which would impress my mom...

Anyway, hope you find it helpful.
-Tim

Interesting, nice concept on making the link a blue text link so it looks like a clickable url... nice, makes it really obvious, subconscious almost.

Hey, nice "fairy" tie-in ! Maybe subconsciously that's why I said karma fairy in the first place (because of your domain name) :-)

    Dang it!

I watched all 11 minutes hoping I was one of the "critiquees" (yes, it's a word).

Great video and good advice, Tim!

Heh, that's funny because I actually did download your banner but I didn't happen to work on it. :-)

Too busy making the video, heh heh. I've been really busy and haven't hardly been posting (which means the banner wouldn't get a whole lot of exposure...outside of this thread at least), but I'll get one up soon. :-)

Yeah, you can definitely keep the branding up and still have a short teaser message with a "click here" at the bottom to encourage clicks too.

It definitely wasn't my plan when I made the video, although I do think banners are fun to do, because they're by definition very short projects (at least the way I do them. ) In fact, making that video yesterday was work-avoidance, I've got a big project I need to be working on, I tricked myself into doing the video instead. I guess you could P.M. me if you wanted something specifically. (This is in gray because I'm ambivalent about saying it, ha!)

Thanks for the kind comments everybody, I appreciate it.

    Tim,

I really hope everyone watches the video all the way through. You gave some really good marketing tips that Warriors can apply to their banners, but too their other marketing efforts as well.

You even explained why it works and if they listen close they will pick up on it.

And yes, I'm going to ask my guy to change mine, as soon as he wakes up. LOL

I use banners mainly for branding, rather than for click throughs. So that even if not clicked, then anyone who looks at them will get an impression of the brand. Of course to do this you have to display a lot of consistent banners.

I have to say though, that your brief instructional video has given me some fresh food for thought ... and perhaps I'll aim to get some more click throughs too

      Thanks for sharing.

      Jeff.

Sorry Tim but I didn't understand it. I think you need to redo the video, and hey why not use the signature pictures in this thread to do it

    Worth a try LOL!

Thanks Tim, I am just about to take the plunge and become a sponsor so the timing is great since I am needing to create my own banner for my sig real soon.

Do you do custom banner creation? I have seen some other people start to offer the service, but was curious since you were doing the rework on the examples.
