Setting up an Investment Newsletter - BUT - Using the content from one being Published - Help!

I am looking at options to create a newsletter for my site and have been speaking with a superb trader today about partnering up on a product.
He provides the content and i take care of traffic coming to the site.

The only thing is he already has a newsletter and a site setup. We would basically be branding his material for my site.
The way i see it there are some plusses and negatives.

Plus - he knows the business and already has a portfolio - with a superb track record.
Plus - He is a very good trader, honest, and i think a good person to work with.

Negative - People may see him on my site - put him in google and then go subscribe on his site.
Negative - Duplicate content. I was going to be promoting the paid service with free articles and posts - but they will already be on his site. He will also be re-posting the popular articles on popular financial news sites - so all of the backlinks will be going back to his site.

There really is very little downside for him as he already is producing the content - and just gets a chance to sell it somewhere else. But there feels like there is quite a lot of downside for me here.

What do you guys think - would you look to go further with this or find someone else to set this service up with (I couldn't do it myself as i'm not that good a trader.)

Any Advice would be greatly received.

Regarding your first negative, I wouldn't worry too much would people googling him to go directly to his website. This is all assumption. We are assuming that viewers would do this. As life shows us, what we assume and what actually happens can be dramatically different. Lets go with some hard evedence on this thought. Once you have the site up, you can check your stats and see if people are increaseing or decreasing to your site. Obviously if your traffic seems to die out then you know they are going to his site in the long run.

Additionally, I would form an aggrement with him where he will release exclusive information on your website. He will agree that this exclusive information will not be published on his own website. This will add more value to your website as well. Try to get a second and even third guru on your site so people can go to your site for multiple sources of info.

Regarding the second negative, it goes back to what I said previously. Get him into an agreement where he will put exclusive content ONLY for your site. This will be good.

Not really sure on the compensation you will provide to him, but you may want to simply offer him more commission for the exclusive deal....

Thanks Jason - you make some great points. We were talking about a revenue split 50/50. My site currently receives about 5,000 visits a day - mainly for the financial news we publish.
