Dumb question about Flippa

Hi, I made my first sale on Flippa a minute ago.

I got an invoice from them to pay final fees, I paid.

They also gave me a link to a sale completition page where there is nothing but a form to send a generic msg to the buyer and an escrow opening thing which I am not interested in.

I got an email from the buyer asking what happens now.

I myself had no idea what to do, I thought at the end of the sale Flippa would have sent an invoice to the buyer, then again they do not know my Paypal account email, the buyer couldn't pay anyway.

So in the end I sent a msg to the buyer asking to please send "the money" to my Paypal email xxx@xxx and I will push the domain in his name.

NOT really professional from my side but what a crappy website! What do you do when you sell on Flippa and the auction ends??? What is the correct procedure??

Well since every auction can accept different forms of payment, like you did, request payment from the buyer. I don't know what about that process makes it unprofessional - it's ultimately up to the buyer and seller to finish the transaction.

(Also, it helps them get more people to use the escrow service, which I'm sure puts a good deal of money into their pockets...)

Yes even on eBay one can use escrow but they also have a 'send an invoice' form to use, with details etc.
Anyway now I know. Just email the buyer saying please send me the money... phew. For a $20 fee I was expecting something better than that.

    Thanks all.

Sounds like we may need to look at our sales completion page. Either way, you may find the help section at flippa.com/help/property-transfer useful for further information.

A quick note on Escrow. Flippa provides this as a service to facilitate added security for buyer/seller transactions if required. We do not make ANY money off providing this service (we receive an affiliate discount - of which 100% is passed onto our buyers and sellers).

    Hope that helps.
