Video presentation nightmare!

Hello wonderful people :-)
I'm in thr process of setting up my website. My intentions was to have a video with a chap/lady introducing my site on the home page, something similar to this-
Online Trading, Online Day Trading - Traders International

Can anyone here recommend someone who will be able to help me out with this. I have NO IDEA as to where I begin with this
I will need to find someone to talk, and then someone to produce the video. I posted a job on guru.com but they came back with quotes of 250 dollars, a bit out of my price range.
Any help, advice would be much appreciated.
Warm regards,
Cadi

You need to get yourself over to Fiverr.com. Get someone (a pretty lady) to read your script, and then someone else to produce the video. Won't cost you anymore than $10.

Or you can start a new thread in the "Wanted - Members Wanting To Hire You" section.

Yeah, FIVerr is the way to go. I already had one person do a voice over. It was $5 to hire a pro. Then I produced a movie. You can get camstudio for free to capture your screens. Also, I would host the video on youtube and place the code on my site using /embed to generate it for me.

There are lots of companies who offer this service just google 'web video presenters.'

it uses some serious lighting of a green screen or an led green screen device plus some flash trickery to make it transparent over the graphics.

    It will cost.

Personally I'm not a fan, it's artificial and why get a presenter to represent you as they aren't authentic and the same one's will pop up on all kinds of sites.

You could easily do a decent job yourself though would avoid trying to do green screen as it gets complicated and will need a lot more lights or a special led greenscreen kit.

You could get a colleague to present if you are camera shy.

You can do it with the kit below, once you have it you can record videos over and over and not pay out each time

    kodak zi8 (Under $100)
    audio technica mic ($25)
    2 lights from amazon ($150)
1 plain color paper roll ($40)

with this you can record something that looks like it cost $500, import to an edit software then add some text over the top.

You got someone who can do 2 jobs for a total of $10 in one hand, up against your idea costing over $300 in the other hand. It's no brainer to me where my money is going.

        cadirondo,

If you think you can get this done for $10 you'll be sorely disappointed. Not only will you have wasted your original $10 you will have wasted the time and energy you spent trying to get something of quality for nothing.

When you see someone spout such claims tell them you'll be happy to pay them $15 to broker and deliver the goods to you.

They won't be able to do it, and hopefully you or anybody else won't get such bad advice in the future based on that person's new found understanding.

I would highly recommend Warrior Kevin Riley's Video Production course which I just took a while back. Not sure if and when he's offering it again, but it's was a huge bargain.

If you want to try doing your own video at little expensive (since Camtasia is so pricey) you should check your computer to see if you have Windows Moviemaker installed. I just found it on mine and although it won't have the capabilities of Camtasia, it will work to put together your own slide show - a fairly easy although time consuming thing to do. Download Audacity and use it to do your own voice over. It's a free program but it's way under priced.

There is a free program you can download and use to do screen captures for your slide show. Maybe someone can provide the name. I'd like to find it myself and can't recall it. Last time I looked at it, it was a very simple program to use - far easier than Photoshop to grab and save images quickly.

Hi Sylvia thank you for your reply. I have thought that maybe for future projects I will need to start doing this myself. I had a motorcycle accident however which occasionally makes me slur, so I wouldn't be an ideal candidate to promote my site! I am seeing a speech therapist however who is helping me get better slower.

I checked out camtasia and saw how expensive it was after the initial trial. I then searched for windows movie maker, and what do you know.....I have it on my pc! That's one less expense so Thank you for suggesting it. I will also check out Kevin Riley's course. Thanks once more

          Hi Bill,
thank you for the warning, I guess there are only 2 options at present-
doing it myself or saving up to have someone else do it pofessionally. I think it wll be the latter.
          Thanks once more

Yep the idea that fiverr is great for everything ignores basic economics. You can probably get a script read for that but a video , post production and animations for $5 with quality? No.

    great reply from everyone here,
thanks guys and gals for the info, I will get straight to it. I will give fiverr a go, 10 dollars compared to 250 is quite a difference!
    Thanks mikescos, seobro and julesw.

    @mikescos

the video I saw on the page was professionally filmed and lit and worked on in edit
    software and outputted nicely.

don't think we were talking abut a girl at a webcam or just a voice, if they have a lighting full kit, background and a decent camera then at $5 you are absolutely right jump on it!

why not do it yourself or get a friend to talk out a script you provide them with?

You dont need a professional video you can shoot one yourself and edit it on imovie or whatever software you use.

If you need more help contact me

      Hi mehak,
thank you for responding to my thread. Doing this myself is a no go for me I'm afraid. I had a motorcycle accident a while back which causes me to slur occasionally during speech, I could easily get mistaken fro being drunk
I have had a chat with one or two friends and they're not interested in being in front of a camera. Who knows what the future holds so I may be in touch if I decide to go solo sometime on something like this!

      Kind regards

P.S: With Windows Moviemaker, you can import all the elements including narration, slides, music, etc. You can create transitions between slides. As far as your script, if you know what you want to put in your video, all you need is a basic script of what you want to say. It's actually better if you try to ad-lib rather than read a full script. Sounds more natural. Create a sheet with a bunch of boxes in it to use as your storyboard. This will be your plan of how your video will come together. Sounds more complicated than it really is. Do some research, find video tutorials (maybe help files) for how to create a video and you can probably figure it out. Now it won't be as professional as you might want, but it'll be within your budget. Sylvia

If you are looking to do exactly that, it is even more than just normal video production costs. Yes the video was recorded on a green screen which would be the normal production costs, but it was then put into Adobe Flash where they animated and action scripted those buttons over it as well. It is very nicely done, to mirror that exactly would take some $ for talent, video production, and then flash production.

I'm also a big proponent of the DIY method. I created a green screen studio in my house for less than $300 (includes lighting, green screen and HD camcorder). There are options.

      Hi mkitchen,
thanks for your reply. Yep, I'm beginning to realise that you get what you pay and that I'm going to have to fork out a bit more than expected. The DIY route may eventually be the only option I have left, we shall see!
      thanks once more

You can do a lot in WMM, always nice to top, tail and middle it with you (or someone) speaking to camera) just to break it up a bit.
