Every Time I Make a New Blog Post...

...It gets pinged automatically by WordPress and I go ahead and submit it to the various social sites, about 30 of them at once using Onlywire.

What else should I be doing to promote my new posts and make sure people see them?

Let them get indexed by Google on your site, and then post them as is on article directories. Make sure they are at least 400-500 words though, as many directories have a word count minimum.

Google will eventually find your site and index it on it's own. You can help speed up the process by using Google's webmaster tools and adding your blog URL to it. It's free to use and gives you a ton of info On the traffic coming to your site. You can use your gmail email and password or create one if you don't currently have one.

Article marketing most certainly. At least a couple articles a week.

Preferably, your new posts are optimized for keywords, which will allow you to use article marketing backlinks to bring up your SERP and eventually bring in organic traffic passively to each of your posts.

I run SEOPRESSOR to make sure it's optimized for the keyword I've selected. I then track google analytics daily to see where the traffic is coming from. I also use onlywire myself to submit my content to all of my social networking sites.

Blogs need to be as keyword laden and keyword related as articles are. Whatever title you have chosen for your blog, use it in the first sentence of your blog as well as your last or second to last sentence.
Make sure your blog title has a high SEO result ranking. To determine this, type your title into Google and put quotations mark around it. If the result is around 100K then you have a high ranking blog title. Anything less, you won't get as many page views. More than 100K and you will be competing with others using the same key phrase.
Promote your blog using social media such as Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and Digg. All of these sites are almost immediately filtered for new web content. The more your blog title/keyword phrase shows up on various websites, the more clicks you will receive.

    Thanks for the tips everyone!

I do focus every post on a keyword so hopefully I'll be ranking eventually in the SERPs for it. Article marketing would be a good way to get some more link juice to that post by using the keyword as my anchor text. Well, it'd be good assuming the article directory is DOFOllow.

A couple of questions I have from the responses so far:

1: With article marketing my posts, I see Kecia you advised me to just post them as is. I'm not sure if I should rewrite or leave as is. Leave it as is would certainly be easier, but I'm wondering if I should be rewriting them in more of a shorter format and leave some things out so people will want to check out the full article. Note I'm NOT talking about using a resource box which reads "for the complete article", I know that's against most TOS. I'd put more thought into the resource box than that.

With the latter option of rewriting the article before I submit to the article directories, I can more effectively use the keyword as anchor text in my resource box and direct people to the full blog post whereas if I just reuse the exact same post as my article in full, then I can't justify sending them to my corresponding post on my site with the exact same info even if I'll get the link juice.

2: Scott, how do you recommend promoting my blog via Facebook and Twitter? Should I just be reposting the same posts as appeared on my blog? After I put that post on my Facebook fan page for example, do I do the OnlyWire and submit THAT page to all of those social sites now? Should I rewrite my posts before putting them on Facebook, similar to how I was asking about rewriting for article directories? I didn't know if I should just be putting the same content on all of these various sites.

    Thanks so much everyone!

You could also try partnering with another blog and getting your posts shared as guest posts.

Are you using Google Webmaster Tools and Google Analytics? You should be using both (installing code on your site).

There is also a WP Plugin that will make your site index for you - and you can submit your site index directly to one of the above (forget which at the moment). That will help your pages get indexed faster.

If you update your ping list (within WordPress) it will send each post to more sites.

You can submit them to sites like Digg, Propeller, etc. through a site called Social Poster (Social Poster - Automatic Social Submitter: digg.com reddit.com netscape.com propeller.com Del.icio.us Stumbleupon.com etc.). It lets you send your posts to 75 or so places.

The drawback is you have to go through them manually. The upside is that you enter the info once on Social Poster and it automatically inserts it into the forms on the social sites.

I'd submit them as is. Rewriting is time consuming and you could be using that time to create new content. Assuming your blog is centered around a central topic, you could always have a resource box that states "visit your domain for more info on xyz." that way they will visit your blog and read your other posts.
