Not long ago I read a post from Jeremy Shoemaker where a study was done, and I think it was with Facebook ads. The study was done with a mixed audience of 2000 participants (male and female)
What they did was show the audience a page with 30 different images on it, and a few images were of pretty girls that showed cleavage.
They used heat map analytics and the results showed that 70% percent of the audience clicked on the images of the ladies showing cleavage or tight tops.
I have seen these type of ads at GoDaddy, Sports Illustrated, etc. and was wondering if anyone here used ads like this and if they got favorable results or customers who may have been offended.
I am putting together a stock photo company catering to IM market and it was suggested that I add this picture group as a category. So before I do I wanted to check in here and see how it worked for this group of marketers and if you thought this would be helpful or a potential problem.

The online game "evony" did that exact same thing. Their ads appeared everywhere, and before they knew it, they thousands of middle aged men addicted to their game, and spending money on it.
So yep, a nice cleavage is always going to attract attention.

I think that you just need to look at the threads about Stripped Down Profits in both the reviews section and the copywriting section....

Good grief, first Sandra's talking abouit carrots and sex, then Jazbo wades in and offers the OP, "Ed" no strings attached, transatlantic sex.

      This particular thread is debaucherous!

Didn't mean for it to be that way Richard, was just looking for some honest feedback, which I am getting, but I know this subject can be controversial with many varying opinions, so I guess we get a little humor from it too.

Miss Lizzie, thanks for the feedback on "stripped down profits", I checked it out but it does not seem to be available anymore. But I read some of the posts and it seems like she pushed the limits as to what she could get away with and either made a lot of money or got banned.

@Edmercer - my understanding is that it's been taken down due to FTC requirements or complaints to Clickbank, but that's not before the creators made about $1 million in sales. I'm guessing that there might be a high proportion of refunds, but they still could have banked a fair bit of money.

Also in terms of whether sex sells, you just have to think about some of the more popular evergreen niches, like dating and health, whether there's lots of demand for information. Clearly, both of those topics are driven by our more primal desires!

Sorry, I was not trying to play words on you.

I saw from close a project working over that premise, I did part of the writing and the technical side.

The sales where very good while certain distance is kept, and the promise stays floating in the air.

Once people feel they have the slightest chance to get closer, everything goes downhill.

So, images are good. But fake profiles in social media sites and stuff like it, can go really wrong.

Well at least Jazbo likes you!

Can't have a chat about sex without a chuckle.

For my own 2 cents worth, I certainly think in many caes it does. I think time has shown that. I think it also depends on the subject.

I wouldn't use it to sell hearing aids for example, though...having said that, I can see it working there too....

          Acme Hearing Aids...

          Better than expected....

Thanks Sandra, it was a funny post, even if you did not mean it that way. My service will be to make the images available, and hopefully the marketers use them responsibly. I was just looking for guidelines and caveats to avoid before I make these images available to those who have a need for them.

Of course sex sells and will continue to sell for a long time, But in relation to IM, i'm not sure if visitors will click on an image of a beautiful lady with her cleavage or tight tops only to be taken to a site that talks about making money or something unrelated.
    Just my 2 cents.

I agree Jude, but I think a lot of internet marketers have sites that are in other niches besides the IM niche. When I say I am going to cater to the IM market, I mean all marketers that use the internet to market their products.
But I guess these images could be used in offline marketing also, with postcards and brochures, or anything really.
Again, I would supply the images and if the marketer thinks that a pretty lady can help them sell whatever it is that they sell, then it is up to them to take it from there.

In that case, I'll say you are right on track and I agree this will sell well for internet marketers in offline marketing.
Good luck in your new project.

Thanks again Richard for your feedback. I just want to make sure that the images that I supply are within the guidelines of smart marketers which there are many to be found in this site.
Before I go to the trouble of advertising a model call and producing great images to work in this category, I want to make sure that I do not offend the masses and what niches people would use for this category so that I can create pertinent images.

Probably for what you're selling, it sounds like a pretty girl/guy might help. But in the investment/banking industry, people want to see more money, not hot people.

Sex sells relative to the product.

Well... I happen to believe that watching how a hot chick is giving a testimonial on how the money making course is great could perform better than other ones.

Many everyday foods are packaged using "subliminal sex messages." (Seriously.) If you're good at evaluating abstract images you'd be amazed at how many of these labels contain pictures of penises.

You're right Zabrina, that is a very successful campaign, I remember one not too long ago that involved a guy doing coca cola ads that also did very well.
I will have to make sure to have a category that includes males with tight abs, if I remember correctly that was what was highlighted besides the product being promoted.

    LOL Zabrina!

I must say that seeing a female with her low cut tight top does nothing for me and doesn't entice me to click on this or that. But now if there's a hot male, I might just be enticed to click....

Does this mean sex sells? It might not be sex that sells, but the goodlooking hot guy just might...

There is definitely a wrong and fake way to sell sex. Does your product have some sex appeal? Just look at new car sales, does a cool car really get you laid though?

I know I always click in to see what Zabrina has to say when I see her name on a topic.

It's far easier to develop a subconscious emotional attachment to someone when they are attractive. As a marketer, I recognize that's what is occurring, but it is still effective.

Which reminds me, I need a photo of a young lady with angular features, dark red lipstick, and a phone to her ear, going "shhhh" - for my Facebook ad campaign for toll-free phone service
