Ok, so I'm jumping into my niche full force and breaking into the self-publishing biz. I'm wondering what you guys can offer me in the way of advice about my website:

NB Publishing :: Home

I'm open to anything you guys wanna share, from color choice to layout to copy. Also worth mentioning, I suppose, is that I've registered realtorpublisher.com, doctorpublisher.com, and lawyerpublisher.com (three target prospects) but haven't done much with them. I have a feeling most of my marketing is going to take place offline (by phone, probably) but if I can snag some customers with SEO and online marketing too, all the better!

Also, I'd love to hear suggestions for people who would benefit from my service. Like I said, I narrowed down doctors, lawyers, and realtors...was also thinking physical therapists, personal trainers, nutritionists, chiropractors...what might I be missing?

Maybe you all could suggest good places to advertise too? I dunno...you all are the experts! Open fire guys...I wanna pick your brains. I'm off to bed, but I can't wait to read your responses when I wake up!

    Strip your pricing that you quoted on the services page. Price can detract a lot of potential customers, or even sometimes have you end up doing work for less than the customer anticipated.

    Leave pricing out of the equation and let them contact you. Give quotes on an individual basis.

    You will bring in more leads that way

  • I would offer something for free so you can capture a lead most people will not come back so you need to build a relationship trough follow up and you can't follow up if you can't get their info and that should be first page above the fold.

      This is a good idea, which I've considered. I'm not sure what kind of gift would be valuable to someone looking for my services. Any thoughts on what sort of thing I could offer to entice someone to give me their info?

    Take all the advice and then split-test the results. All advice without data to back it up, is simply a suggestion. Let the market (your visitors) tell you want they want.

    Split testing is huge... and Google website optimizer makes it very easy.
