Hi everyone

Seeing as this is my first ever post on such a famous forum, I would like to ask a simple question for my first ever post!

I'm a total newbie! Keen to put what I've discovered into practice! Please add me as a friend, if you're into helping a newbie in need

I got into it by selling my own ebook on eBay about how to get an awesome guitar tone. Unfortunately eBay came along and changed the rules so we can no longer sell ebooks on there. So they lost huge amounts of revenue - GOOD!

So I got p*ssed off and came to the warrior forum and learned a few tricks here.

Firstly, welcome to the forum. I actually got started when I was 15. I didn't realize it was internet marketing then. LOL I had tried adsense with success (over 1k in 12 - 15 months) through free blogs. Then I realized this is the best way to make some serious cash. Later on I also realized that people are making a living through this. That's how I got into full time internet marketing.

If you're really passionate about it, then you're definitely gonna love it. This is the best self-employed business you can run from the comfort of anywhere you want. Your office is the WHOLE WORLD

I got started in it because of a challenge I had myself, that being, what to do as a home based business and being confused on what was legitimate and what wasn't. So, I started a website, and since, I have written several ebooks and reports and sold them online. I also do affiliate marketing and promote products that relate to the home business field.

Wrote a physical book back in 1996, listed it on Amazon and became an affiliate so I'd make a little more promoting it. Started creating my own digital products a few years after.

And, mookiman, eBay allows sellers to offer digital products again. I found out just last week. Digitally delivered goods policy

      Hi Alan and welcome,

In 2001 I attended a seminar where the speaker was
Corey Rudl. At the time he was one of the top internet
      marketers.

I bought his course for like $300 and that was it.

Unfortunately, we lost Corey six years ago tomorrow
      June 2.

I got started doing content writing. From there I did some affiliate marketing. In the end, I'm opening a shop to sell website content and selling products for affiliates that offer content in areas I haven't covered yet.

Feel free to add me on an instant messenger. I'm not a guru or anything, but I have learned a lot and have may be able to answer any questions you have or direct you to a place to find the answers you need.

WOW, I didn't expect that many replies in such a short space of time!

It really is a pleasure to meet you all. Thank you for taking the time out to respond to my question.

I'm really getting a sense that this really is the place to be for anyone wanting to learn more on a more personal level. It actually feels like a 'family' here, and I love that feeling of being part of something big!

I've followed some big names in IM and brought some really good products over the last couple of years. It's just been a real issue for me to 'dip my toe in the water'! Late starter or not, I'm here now! That's all that matters to me.

In reply to each of you...

Mookinman - Awesome! I'm a musician too, piano. Hope Brum is good, I haven't been to our 2nd city before... I doubt I'll get the chance anytime soon as I'm moving to NZ in Oct. I look forward to reading your futher posts!

Gskesavan - Thank you for your kind words! As you can tell, It's great to be here (at last). I've really got to take my hat off to you, 15 years old and you discovered what you wanted to do, and did it well! I won't be rude and ask how old you are now! lol 1k in a year starting small must have felt like a million bucks! It'll be a pleasure to follow you and discover a little more.

KLaAz0r - Again, hat off to you for writing your first ebook (are we still allowed to call it that, I thought it was more 'blueprint, course or guide'? lol). With regards to Backlinks, I think they're the bain of every IMer's life... I guess at this point we thank our friends in the Phillipines for their time and do something more productive (well that's the message I'm reading!) ;0) Pleasure to meet you, thanks for the reply!

Samrathgupta - Hey, thanks for that comment... Yes I totally agree, if something feels right, from the very word 'GO', then you know that's what you need to be doing! It's something that anyone can do if they're willing to learn, test and repeat! Hey, did you make a million yet? :0)

Travlinguy - Thank you for your reply Sir! What was your first book about? I can only imagin what you've been doing since 1996, but you're here and willing to share so that's a big 'Thumbs UP'! It'll be great to read your posts to pick up some ideas. Cheers.

One24works - Thanks for your reply. A compelling event such as loosing your job is actually the reason I joined this forum today! We've got alot in common seeing as you're only on your 2nd post here too. It'd be great to see how you do, bounce some ideas, etc! Good luck in finding work if you're still looking. I have to find a job real soon to actually fund some IM project ideas that are starting to buzz around in my head. I know it'll happen for me soon. Stay in touch!

Laurie390 - Thank you for posting your reply. I too am a man of faith and believe I was guided here to talk to you all today. I totally agree, the issue loads of people have is what's real, what works and what do I stear away from. God blessed you for guiding people, please stay in touch!

AmandaT- Thanks for your kind offer, I'd love to have a chat sometime so I'll add you! I'm sure content writing is something I'll have to either do, or out-source sooner rather than later. Content is king as they say!

Perpetualmike- Thank you for your kind words! Your comment has really hit home with me tonight... The feeling of respect you show for someone who clearly you owe alot too Corey Rudl. I can't help but want to learn more about him so if you can suggest anything, I'd love to hear from you. This really is a family, a global fellowship and I feel humble to be here right now. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.

There's one burning questions I've got right now... How do I actually 'Thank' people on their profiles? I know each one of you deserve one! :0)

    Hi Alan,

I had an idea for a Sports Betting Application, I created 200 pages of planning documentation. I had storyboards, etc. I then launched a site all about Sports Betting, but I never finished the application. The sports betting website failed.

But, in the midst of creating the website I discovered affiliate marketing. So thank you failed sports betting application as you introduced me to affiliate marketing, and I have never looked back, currently making $100 to $300 a day - and work for myself, at home

I realized the big opportunity the Internet has to offer. It has the power to obliterate the traditional 9 to 5 job if you learn all you can about the trade and you are persistent.

The Internet is the modern day gold rush for those of us who are smart enough to realize it's true potential and broad range. Hell, with the Internet you have the World at your fingertips! All you need is an internet connection, and a comfy chair to make things happen lol. With a traditional local business you only have your local area as your customers for the most part, and it is usually very expensive to get started. The exact opposite is the case for an Internet business.

Too answer your question I got into internet marketing because of the above reasons but my main reason is I thoroughly enjoy it. If you enjoy what you are doing your a success regardless - and you never work a day in your life, which is pretty damn cool if I do say so myself.

Got into IM when someone said I was doing affiliate marketing, actually was promoting my discount code online for fun to earn some money at that time.

Quite curious about affiliate marketing and discovered warrior forum, wanted to promote this affiliate product and took 4 months to build my first website.

Planning to give up and spend less time after trying another 4 months because have not made any sales. However, I made my first sale in Feb this year, altogether make 6 sales till today.

Most of my keywords are far away from page 1. The keyword that made the first sale is ranking 1st position but I discovered it is not a buying keyword OCI (30%).

Struggling to make more sales constantly, but if keywords with OCI (65%, 68%, 87% and 92%) to page 1, I believe that I can make more sales regularly. I am learning to improve conversion rates. Lastly, I will not give up easily again.

Got fired from my job for out-performing my district manager, who was moving to a rival district - she fired her competition, essentially.

Waa waa. Decided right then and there I'd be my own boss for the rest of my days. I figured there had to be a way to make a living from this emerging global marketplace that never closes.

Knew nothing about internet marketing, but started spending way too much money on everything I could get my hands on. That was 2002. Never looked back.

          Good luck with it!

I got into it when I made a small website that listed apartments for rent in my town. It was just a hobby project, but I came across Adsense and started making some money. Then I scaled it up with Adwords traffic (which was really cheap back then) and made a few hundred $ / month.. That's when I got into it seriously, but it took me at least 1-2 years after that before I was making good money.

One of my friends gave me a copy of Dr. Mani's Think, Write, and Retire for Christmas. She still won't tell me why this book or how she even found it, but it has made all the difference to me because it was precisely what I needed to read to get me moving!

I started in the 90's, learning to build websites and SEO for small business.

Ended up landing a 9-5 job, which I thought was great at the time and shortly after started building my own sites.
