My Top 5 Tips To Email Marketing ...

Hi everyone,

If those of you reading this post are anything like me, you are probably sick and tired of having your email inbox literally filled up with rubbish internet marketing offers. Even more galling is the title of the emails that you are sent that are supposed to get you to "click" and open the email. Surely you know the types of email I am talking about. Examples like "You Don't Want To Miss Out On This", (as though it's the next best thing since sliced bread) or "This Package Is Guaranteed To Make You $1000 A Week".

You pretty much know before you open the email that the title will have nothing much to do with the product that is being pushed your way. So, that's another 30 seconds of your time wasted on puerile guff that won't do anything to enhance your web business, or help you learn something that can assist you in your internet marketing.

Why do people insist on doing this? Why can't people just be honest about what they are doing?
During my time as an online Internet Marketer, it has been my experience that people respond much better to honesty, respect and quality information.
To that end, here are my top 5 tips to Internet Marketing Emails.

1. Use Proper Email Subject Lines.
Don't mask what it is that you are selling. Make sure that you don't try and trick a person into opening your email with false claims or inaccurate email subject lines. Those people who do open your email will more than likely never do again, and then that is a potential customer you have probably lost forever.

2. Highlight The Benefits.
Make sure that whatever it is your are promoting that you highlight the benefits of it to your list. Describe how it will help their business, or how it will enhance their website or Internet Marketing venture. Once again, do not make any false claims about the product or service you are offering.

3. Short And Sweet.
Make your email informative but to the point. Don't write a long essay going on and on about things that the reader couldn't care less about. They have opened your email because they are interested in what it is you have to offer, don't lose their attention with information that means nothing to them or they will close the email for good.

Use bullet point's to highlight relevant information. People like to see a list of features or benefits, it is easier to read, understand and remember. By the end of the email we want them to click on our website link or offer link, so the more they remember by the end of the email the better.

4. Give Value Before Selling.
When you email anyone new the first few times, don't hit them straight away with an offer or product. Make sure that you nurture and develop a good relationship with people first by giving them value. Show that you know what you are talking about by delivering useful information, tips, or free eBooks or products that might help them. This will build respect, confidence in your abilities, but most importantly it will build trust in you. If your list trusts you, they will more than likely continue to stay on your list and buy from you.

5. Get Some Feedback.
Your relationship with your list is a two way street. They are on your list and reading your emails for a reason. Ask them outright what it is they need. Do they have any particular problems with Internet Marketing that you could help with? Maybe they would like certain topics explaining, or a video demonstration of certain procedures. Even better, maybe they have a problem or situation that you already have a product or service for that can help them. Don't be frightened to communicate in this way with your list, ask them what it is they need and then provide them with the answer - which usually will result in sales.

Well, those are my top 5 tips to Internet Marketing Emails. I hope that this post has been helpful and informative for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read it.

I agree 100% it does no good for someone to open a subject line in an email that they are not interested in. Make your subject line relevant to whatever your email is about.

This way you get subscribers of yours that may actually be interested in what you have to say increases your chances of sale, or building trust with your list.

Good tips I agree with all of them

Sounds so basic, but if more email marketers would follow this simple concept, their read rate would improve dramatically.

These are good guidelines but I'm going to go against the grain and say - they're good guidelines.

You also need to know your market and test what works best for your market... and don't think what others do will work for you or your market.

If someone knew about a toothache cure then I'd sure as **** want it right now, sell it to me in that first email because I don't want another sleepness night waiting for more quality content.

    Just gimme that cure!

    I'm just being awkward...

First off , I want to say thanks to Vortex for sharing this . I completely agree that people prefer short and straight to the point . I am guilty of sending long passionate mails to my list . So , that needs adjusting Thanks

I agree with the subject line tip . i felt like i was being tricked every time i opened a subject line because i would see a juicy headline and be mad when i find out it is really a sales letter.

I have actually emailed myself a copy of your tips so i can recall it rather trying to find it here amongst a thousand other posts . It is that useful to me Thanks for sharing with other warriors .

I am also have to agree with Al one this to some extent . In some niches , they just want the solution now . If you will give it to them now , they would buy . In the IM niche however i think people are more cautious . they have been stung before and you need to build a relationship and show the kind of quality you have to offer before you ask for the purchase

It is different in every niche . The only way you are going to know for sure is to test .

No, this isn't being awkward this is absolutely right for some health niches.

The money making and IM niches need free advice before starting to trust the sender, totally agree.

However, for people in health niches like the one you mention and say, a man who can't make love to his wife, the solution is urgent. By the time they get 5 emails of nice free info they're already looking for something else.

For some niches where the need is more urgent, I think it's acceptable to make offers earlier on as long as you are sincere and you provide value as well as the offer.

Speaking from the perspective of a subscriber to around 8 different peoples lists I can tell you that you are absolutely CORRECT! It was really an eye opening experience. I got the opportunity to see what I liked along with what I didn't like.

I would always look forward to opening emails from people who sent me good information.

I maintain that some of the best research one can do to find out the best way to get people to open their emails is sign up to their competitors lists. Your opinion is just as valuable as anyone else's.

For all of you out there reading this: Your list is made up of people. People just like you and me. Think of what you like to see.

Thank you for the GREAT post!!

    Nice post.
I would add by saying use creativity with subject lines. You need to invoke curiosity. Think why would they bother opening this particular email? And yes, those "you made a sale" are truly awful.

Absolutely. Tell them what the product will do for them.

As for the length. The email only needs to be as long as it needs to be. If one email requires 100 words and another 300, depending upon what the email is promoting, then that's what it should be. Don't shorten for just for the sake of it.

Fostering a relationship with your list is essential. And giving value is one way to do this. I would qualify by saying don't give away too much too often, otherwise many people will just look for the free stuff and when you try and sell something they will not be happy. Also show that you are there to genuinely help them and not that they are just a teat to be milked.

Feedback. Very powerful suggestion. You want to have a two way communication with your list often. They will get to feel they know you better and you will get to know your list better too. With this you will discover what they want and they will learn more about you.
