Should I approve comments from spam bots

Hello,

I have started a new wordpress blog. I am getting lots of comments from spam bots. Previously I have always just deleted these.

The other day i saw a blog where the owner was approving all of his spam comments. One post had 300 comments just from bots.

Is there any SEO value in this, will having lots of comments even from spam bots help my ranking.

I am thinking of approving these comments and then going back and deleting when my blog is more established

Thank you

NO... your blog will probably be flagged as a splog (spam blog) and be removed from search results entirely.

However, if you don't mind testing it out and coming back with the results... =)

Agree absolutely. Don't associate yourself with spammers in any way, shape or form. You will be seen as complicit.

Rather you can check the option from discussion settings " Users must be registered and logged in to comment " and can install another Facebook Comment plugin or something similar.

If the comment is relevant and on topic I would probably approve them. Obviously if it is an off the wall non related comment you would just delete them.

Some of those spam comments might be legitimate comments just use your best judgement. I would also make sure the comments are from non porn related sites these can do more damage than good. But definitely do not approve a bunch of spam comments they will hurt your blog in the long run.

P.S You may want to add comment luv to your wordpress blog and maybe a captcha form this will reduce the spam comments almost immediately. It is no fun going through hundreds of spam comments daily!

Google is also a hunter. Why not keep your website clean and not give anyone a chance? Spammy comments and links are only going to hurt your rankings.

Established blogs may not face problem due to these activity as they have huge authority new blog which doesn't have much authority may be treated differently on serps. I don't think you should approve any spam comments after all it's a spam.

Approve the blog comments, remove the links and edit them into an actual blog comment. Free SEO value

I don't think allowing spam comments will add any value to your blog, best to delete them and mark them as spam.

Spammers go where spam works. If they see you are approving their comments you are only likely to attract more of them. The same way if you open spam emails they are likely to send you more. Having the same comments on your blog as those published on hundreds of other blogs will not do you any good.

Asking this is like asking if you should approve advertisements on your desktop.

    No, you shouldnt.

However, they are getting clever so its ok if you miss one or 30..

Aside from the SEO impact that you're thinking about, you should consider your actual human readers. How much time would you spend on a blog that had a hundred spambot comments on it? Not much, right?

This means that people will be clicking away from your site faster, which in turn will tell Google that your site doesn't give them any reason to stay there. I'm no SEO expert, but that's gotta be a minus.

  • I don't think it will be a good idea to allow spam comments to pass through. But somewhere in the spam comments, you might find helpful/useful comments that you might want to keep. But just like in a forum setup, it is rather bad to see a forum (or in your case, a blog) craploaded with spams.

I agree that there might be a few nuggets of gold in the spam, but really, what are the odds and what is the cost in time?

      Not worth it IMO.

That's definitely true. The odds will be few, and it will definitely take you time. Perhaps it would be wise to just focus on deleting them all out, as it will take time, like this wise warrior said here. I don't know, but usually, when I moderate spam comments on the forums that I serviced, I take my time to scan through the piles of heap and search for nuggets of gold. It is time-consuming, yes, but I have all the time in the world anyway. Up to you, OP. But the bottom line is, approving comments from spam bots won't be a great idea.

No spam comments will not help you to promote your blog, contrary are just lower the ranking of your blog!

Not only will approving them likely hurt your rank, but real people viewing your
site have to look at them. People can tell if there's a bunch of spam posts,
and it looks trashy. It makes it look like you don't care about the blog.

  • I generally edit email and names, as well as the contents, and repost them as new targeted comments coming from all the world.
My blog has a PR3, and it's really going very well. Anytime I post a new article, 3 seconds and it goes on first three positions for all the keywords I select

Thanks so much and see you soon!

I think it depends on your blog. If you don't have many "real" comments you could go ahead and edit the spam comments as stated above by other warriors. If your blog already is an authority and you've got enough traffic just go and delete it...
