Web Developers- How do you handle Content Delivery

How do you handle Content Delivery for a Website? (Client to Web developer and vise versa )
How do your clients identify their desired linking targets for their website?

I've tried a variety of methods including dropbox, ftp and of course email. I would like to implement a process that is easy for me and my clients.

What sort of content are you talking about?

Any content that a client would need added to their website. Also content that you have created and need approved.

Wasn't sure if you meant specifically more just text/articles stuff (which I've got a tool for) or broader assets. You're talking about asset management.

For me, assets live on a server - usually mine, sometimes theirs - in testing/staging areas until approval, then they're ready for live. Sometimes that's immediate, sometimes later, sometimes I move it myself, sometimes they handle it. I don't have a set process because every project I work on is a bit different.

FWIW, I've seen a growing need for asset managers over the last year or so, mostly inside companies, not so much inter-company. But... a friend of mine is also looking at that space as well.

In short, there's no one way I've found, I've seen it as a problem, just not sure it's one people are willing to pay for enough to justify investing in developing a tool

A tool for this would be great . For now , I think dropbox may be the best option.
I will also check out your tool as it may be helpful to me at some point.

You are right- every client and every project is different. I may need to be flexible.

You may want to look in to getting a hosted asset management tool if it's important to you.

It really depends on the clients you have - if they're mostly smaller clients, you can probably get away with saying "this is how I work - use these 4 tools" (tickets, asset mgr, etc). However, larger clients will probably already have their own workflow tools, and since they're bigger than you, you'll have to use their stuff. The tool I mentioned earlier is designed just for text/blog content for phase 1.

As a web developer, implementing the content for the client is the absolute easiest. If the client won't or can't give you login information, then I use e-mail. For large files or a lot of stuff, I will use dropbox or FTP.

      Mikey,
Thanks for your response . Im guessing that you ask clients to look in dropbox to approve logos and pages that you have designed?
