  I've been using Mindmeister for a couple of years and it's awesome. It has both free and paid versions, is a cloud-based solution and also has a little desktop app you can "dump" ideas into.

Hands down the BEST Mind Mapping software is provided
by the creator of Mind Mapping - Tony Buzan.

It's called iMindMap and has a basic free version:

ThinkBuzan - Products - iMindMap - Basic (no affil.)

Personally, I use and recommend the paid Ultimate version:

ThinkBuzan - Products - iMindMap - Ultimate (no affil.)

It's much better than most other software out there because
it follows the proven principles of effective Mind Mapping like
using images, COLOR and non-linear branches to stimulate your
thinking:

I used to use MindJet's Mind Manager software (before I knew
iMindMap existed) but it was boring old grey and blue lines and
boxes. Yawn.

Get the best - iMindMap.

And don't be a cheap bar steward either.
