Quotes causing duplicate content

Hey everyone,

Quick question, I'm writing reviews and when I run these reviews through copyscape they are showing duplicate content because i'm taking quotes from other sites on the web. (amazon, forums, ect)

The reviews are high quality and the reason I'm adding these quotes are to add value and show not just my opinion and experiences but also other opinions from different people (good and bad)

My question is will this affect trying to rank that review in the SERPS and is there anyway to do this without it showing up in copyscape as duplicate content?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated

Duplicate content penalties from search engines only happen when a single domain hosts the duplicated content.

When you quote another site or republish an article, the search engines will not penalize you for this at all.

However if a big percentage of your content is also found on other sites, that published the information first, you will find that quoted content won't help your search rankings...although it won't be a negative either.

Thanks for clearing that up for me David.
