How to get the attention of professional affiliates?

I have two question-

1. What does an affiliate seek before he/she starts promoting a product?
2. How to get the attention of affiliates?

They seek hot selling products. Everything else is just commentary.

High quality (= converting) sales page, high commission & low refund rate is what I want when I look for affiliate product to promote. Recurring payment & commission on upsells and/or backend are a huge + .

But I'm not a professional affiliate. Though professionals for sure look for the same things but they just choose the best of the best and usually the one that will make the biggest amount of money for them.

It's kind of common sense if you think about it. Find affiliates promoting products in your niche which are not hugely better than yours, and just offer higher commission or commission on further promotions than your competitors, like upsells. This should in common sense make them promote your product.

    My list is here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post2161932

(It refers specifically to ClickBank products but many of the criteria listed there apply equally to others).

I think that list is probably fairly typical of "the more serious affiliates" whom a vendor would ideally wish to attract.

To attract serious affiliates, the main thing you need is to have a good quality product (to which affiliates are proud rather than embarrassed to lend their own names/reputations in the promotion) with a non-leaky sales page proven to convert targeted traffic.

I think that's more or less it, actually: compared with that, everything else is comparatively trivial and unimportant.

There seems to be one big, specific (and quite common) mistake vendors make in this regard, which is to ignore that and concentrate instead on the trivia, aiming to attract "as many affiliates as possible". The outcome of that, I strongly suspect, is to attract large numbers of affiliates who make very few sales, at the expense of putting off the much smaller group of "pro-affiliates" who can make huge numbers of sales.

    1. High profit, low risk.
    2. Advertise.

They're just a slightly different brand of customer. Instead of selling them the idea of buying your product, you're selling them the idea of selling your product.
