These terms are alien to me. I will learn as I progress.

SSL - Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) - It encrypts the data which are sent over Internet. You may seen the Banking sites - Its Green Padlock (ex https://www.abc.com). That S represent that site is Secured and the transaction will not be lost in between you & the Server to else place. But It also require a fix IP address.

If you want eCommerce/ Membership Site done direct from your website - Its Good you have SSL else - " Carry On"

To be honest, if you do not have an eCommerce store or transferring personal client information then you really do not need it.
