What I've learned on WF so far...

Hi fellow warriors My name is Sarah and I'm brand new to the wonderful world of Internet Marketing. I'm not trying to get rich over night, but I would love to find a way to make some extra cash in my spare time. (Spare time being fairly limited due to college and working fulltime mon-fri)

So over the past few weeks I've been learning so much and absorbing as much as possible via this amazing forum I first want to give a big thanks to everyone who has contributed to making this a welcoming place for us newbs, (hey we all have to start somewhere!)

There is so much advice it's actually quite overwhelming... I've been lurking for awhile now and I still have NO idea where to begin in the world of online marketing. (Well I have a few ideas, but I'm not sure which direction I'm going to go in quite yet) I guess the most important things I've learned so far here would be:

RESEARCH, READ, REPEAT. Being well informed with all the details surrounding my first IM project before I get started is probably the key to my (hopeful) success.

Once I get an idea I think I'd like to work with... I should stick to it, and put my focus and energy in that only. (As opposed to putting my extra time and energy into a ton of different projects at the same time)


Whatever "niche" in IM I do decided to ultimately get into, (probably through promoting via clickbank) I should have a genuine interest in it already, because it will make my job of creating a website/blog that much better.


Lastly, I shouldn't quit my day job! So many promises of making a huge amount of cash per month would make anyone want to say "hell yeah!! I'm quitting my job and doing this!" But I've also come to find out through research that those opportunities don't really exist. The only way people are able to make a ton of cash every month online is through hard work, (at least initially) and through trial and error. Something I'm definitely interested in getting started in asap Just need to weed through all the crap and plethora of info to find what will actually be useful to me.


So yeah, that's what I've learned through WF so far!! Hoping in the next few weeks to figure out the details of my "plan" and set it into motion, wish me luck! Any tips, advice, helpful links, etc would be awesome. (Feel free to PM with any of that if you don't want to spoon feed the rest of the web who are lurking for useful info like I was, haha) Thanks guys and gals!

    Alter this slightly. I recommend you write your own product and sell that. The benefits are limitless and it shouldn't take too long if you work hard.

      And I definitely would! I love writing, (english has always been my best subject) however I'm not an "expert" in anything, and I wouldn't know what to write about :-/

        This is internet, you don't have to be an expert of everything and there are so much things to learn to feel the touch of being an expert.

        Trust me, am not expert on anything too. Yet I feel good about learning new things daily using the internet

          Yeah I'm a newbie too and I have to say I'm overwhelmed with all the options. I find just about every avenue exciting and I'm having a hard time deciding where to focus. Hey vets... if you had to start again, what would you do first?

            I would have signed up with The Keyword Academy. You get a great walkthrough of how to make profitable niche sites, some utilities that help you find the right niche, plus a link building network (that's still alive) to make it happen. All for a rather low price for either/or, and a great price for both.

            30 day free trial to make sure it's right for you too.

            There are a lot of other great products/courses out there, but that's where I'd start.

        Hey mate,

        The easiest way to find your niche is to look at your interests. For me it would be the following:

        - Strength training
        - Volleyball
        - IM
        - Writing
        - Human anatomy
        - Vertical jump

        I looked at this list and decided that I'd love to get into the vertical jump industry so that's the niche I'm looking at. Make a list of everything you have an interest in and ask yourself, "could I write about this as though I know what I'm talking about as well as being passionate about the topic?" If the answer is yep and yep, go right ahead with the TAKE ACTION part.

    Hello Sarah, And Welcome.

    My only suggestion (do with it what you will) to you will be short and sweet...

    Don't over-complicate things and Choose to be a successful Marketer regardless of niche or circumstances.

    Hi Sarah,

    I love this forum and I spend time reading, researching and learning more as I try to expand my business.
    I'm new to the forum but not new to some parts of Internet Marketing. I agree you should look into creating your own products. It will definitely take some time to get there and figure out what you want to want to do. Think about hobbies, things you enjoy doing, your previous work you've done, anything that has caught your attention and enjoy talking about it with others.

What you need is, strategic thinking, know what actually works (which someone in possession of that knowledge, rather than who says he/she is, can teach you) and someone to guide you. Then, you need to find a team of people - preferably people from india, or similar places, who don't require a lot of money (read: because the usd is worth a lot there) and start automating the regular stuff, that needs to get done, which aren't your strengths; so you can focus on improving, the parts of the business, that make money.

    "Genuine interest"<---absolute. And what if you could connect that to a niche where you can relate to the problems (you're out to solve for people)? Then you're, pretty much inevitably, going to write - every marketing you write - from your heart. ...And will people feel you're out to help, then? Yep. Gary Bencivenga, one of the best copywriters in history, "makes a friend", in every sales page (writes, in it, like he was providing tips to his best friend). That's exactly what you will do if you have direct relation to the problems the people are experiencing.

    Wow, I haven't actually posted in the forums yet until yesterday, and I had no idea thread topics move so fast! I had to actually search a few pages back to find this thread lol.

    There are tons of methods and materials out there, and it is extremely easy to get overwhelmed. Browse the forums and find a method that interests you and stick to it. don't get caught up in "the next shiny object syndrome". You probably won't see money roll in overnight, but with consistent work, its possible.

    create an action plan to keep you on track. there will always be times where you want to quit, but just keep pushing. always keep pushing your comfort zone.

    Reading is great, but taking action is the only thing that will ever put money in your pocket.

    It's not easy to make money online, (contrary to all the shysters out there), but it is possible with hard work, patience and the right mindset.

    Good move to keep your job. Think at this like going to university during the evening over your extra job.

    You are in the learning curve. Don't focus on money, focus on things you want to learn. Read, read read... experiment. In 2-6 months you will be in a better position to start making real (long-term) money and think about leaving your job within 1-2 years, depending on how smart you are

    Hey sarah

    well after reading your thread firstly i like to say welcome to the forum

    well your absolutley right about not leaving your job, i would always recommend to stay in your day job until you have your online business making you enough money where it replaces your day job wages if not more on a regular basis.

    ok your also right in saying picking one model and sticking with it and work through that project to the end. The most important factor is not the money but understanding the process of how the model works. ( the one that you picked eg. affilliate marketing, list building etc). then comes the money

    there is alot of hardwork involved in setting everything up, but once its done you will see results .

    also because you enjoy writing, you already can offer your service as a writer for articles and get paid for writing them or other writing services you can build a small business around that ( hint hint nudge nudge)
