I Have Learned So Much This Week...Sharing With You...Share With Us

You are never too old to learn. You have never been in this game so long
that you know everything. I have been so humbled this week by so many
things that I don't even know where to begin. I am going to share just a
few things that I have learned this week. At the end, I'd like other warriors
to share what THEY learned JUST in the last 7 days.

Here's my first lesson.

Affiliate marketing. I used to think that promoting a product, as long as
the product itself was great, was enough. That's all that mattered, that
the product itself was of quality and that it did what it said it did.

This week, I have learned that this is not true. There are other things to
consider when promoting a product as an affiliate, no matter how great
the product is.

1. The reputation of the seller

If the seller's reputation is spotty, or flat out poor, you risk 2 things. The
first is that you probably will put a lot of effort into selling a product that,
even though it is good, won't sell. The second is that you might end up
getting a bad reputation yourself because you're associated with this
person.

2. The delivery system

Not all delivery systems are the same. Some downright suck. The last thing
you want to do is piss of your list with a crappy delivery system, no matter
how good the product is.

3. The sales system

Now I know this is subjective, and there are going to be people who will
say that you have to suck out every last dime out of every prospect with
OTOs, upsells and what not, but if you know you're list is not used to
that sort of stuff and you send them to a sales page that puts them
through multiple OTOs, upsells and whatever, you are risking alienating
these people who you worked very hard to gain their trust. There is no
right or wrong here. Just do what you think is best for your situation but
keep this aspect in mind.

4. The affiliate tracking system

Again, some of these just plain suck and you could be putting in your
efforts into promoting something that's going to lose you lots of sales
because of this.

Here's my second lesson.

Don't assume!!!!

I'm talking in both directions here. Don't assume good and don't assume
bad.

I got a PM from somebody who I thought for sure wanted nothing to do
with me because of a recent incident. This person wanted to do business
with me. I was almost speechless.

Unless you get a yes or a no from a person, a prospect, a list member or
whoever, don't assume the best and don't assume the worst. This will
keep you from getting too high and too low. Deal with facts. Facts are
the only thing that matter. Everything else is just YOUR imagination
running wild with you and that is BAD for business.

Here is the final lesson I learned this week.

Don't take anything for granted

I'm not going to go into details on this one because it's personal. Let's just
say I got news that will completely change my life...and not for the better.

So many of us wake up each day thinking that we've got all the time in
the world. And then suddenly something happens and our lives change
overnight.

I have so taken so much for granted for so long. As a kid, I thought I was
indestructible. Yeah, so much for that.

This last lesson, for many, is a hard one to learn. Most don't really learn it
until they're confronted by a life changing event. And then in too many
cases, it's too late.

I think you get the point, so I'll leave it at that.

Okay, your turn.

What did YOU learn this week?

Certainly you've learned something or you're not growing. So I'm inviting
you to share what you learned with the rest of us.

Maybe we can all learn something as well.

I haven't been here long, but you (and quite a few others) are the ones I've learned the most from during these my early days of trying to earn a living just by myself online.

This week, I've learned that learning is very good, but acting on what I've learned is even better.

My best wishes to you, Steve, regarding the not-so-good changes you are facing right now. Stay strong.

Your last lesson has touched me as I have been taking a few things for granted. I hope what ever has happened you stay strong.

I have learned that learning is an on going process no matter what your age is.

I've learned that it can take in excess of three days to re-write a website from end to end after accidentally deleting a back-up while mid-way between switching servers, and that it's unlikely to be identical to its former self.

Hopefully, I've also learned not to do anything as dozy again. Until next time

Great post Steve. What have I learned this week? Well, apart from your post... that is pays to be sociable on social media sites. Might seem obvious but we're not ALL naturally social. Some of us have to work at it.

Number 1 should be to protect your own reputation before promoting a product to your audience.

I was reminded again this week on how unproductive it is generally to engage in pissing matches with others. Obviously it is beneficial to voice ones opinion on matters of importance but the trivial tit for tat sparring that sometimes goes on in life seldom if ever produces good results.

For me I prefer to spend my time more positively engaged in things that have more meaning. Like building my business.

Thanks Steve for an insightful post.

      Cheers,

I have learned that it pays to source good product. Sell good product, have control over good product and the product will sell moreover your business will grow organically.
However try to sell poor product and your business will fail. Take the time to source good product.

After finishing an interesting fiction which somehow touches some topics regarding human behavior and mental states. I've learned the following:

    1. To make people act a writter must motivate them through his written words
    2. The writter cannot just say "Jump" and expect the readers to jump.
    3. The writter must first capture the imagination of the reader. Mesmerize them.
    4. Then demand for action.

    Example.

It is common knowledge that those who can top the list of search results usually get all of the traffic for those keywords.

It is also common knowledge that those who get a lot of traffic can make plenty of money several ways which includes ad placement income, affiliate links, their own product sales. Aside from the bragging rights we get by telling our friends we are topping that keyword result. With the internet, recognition is world wide!

And I'll let you in on a secret, even a twelve years old can do it!

Now, most of us know that with steady traffic we can create a steady flow of income for our needs. Initially, pay the utilities and as time goes on, while we produce more sites that conquer search results, we can make money to get more! a new sports car! a new dream house! even take luxurious vacations while waiting for the money that automatically pours into your paypal account. :-)

Now what are you waiting for! Look for the threads in this forum regarding on-page and off-page search engine optimization and also about accidental findings of other members here regarding SE indexing behavior...

or PM me and learn it in a few minutes starting now!

    :-)

    Ciao!

I learned that the next time I get a reminder like "It's been 14 days since you performed your last back up" not to hit the remind me later button. Putting off to tomorrow what I could have done in ten minutes today cost me hours of extra work.

Also that there's a big difference between motivation & inspiration.

Thanks Steven for your post, it's inspirational!
