Sites aimed at Global traffic?

I can't get my head around what way I should be hosting my sites.

I want to set a site up that will target potential customer's globally, not just UK and USA.

Now it's an Amazon site so I will have affiliate accounts for most Amazon sites.

My question is - will hosting my site with a US company like Hostgator effect my target? Will people in the UK, USA, and rest of the world find my site. Also what needs to be done to rank in both Google.co.uk and .com?

I hope this makes sense.

Thanks
Aaron.

Where your hosting is located will affect where you show up in the SERPS but if you are offering a product/service that someone in another country is seeking and your page/site ranks well in the USA for that item then you should show up in foreign SERPs as well.

Our site is 14 years old - we have offered international trade B2B resources as well as actual products in those years - we have had orders for all of those items from over 70 different countries. I have always had the site hosted in the USA and to this day about 50% of our traffic comes from outside the USA.

    Thanks for that info.

So if I was offering a product from Amazon that a person in the US was searching for and it was available on Amazon.com, If my site had good content and all the SEO done properly I should be ranking high which will direct that customer towards my site.

    Thanks again.
