How To View a Html Aweber E-Mail In Plain Text?

In the past, I have usually used one or the other with my lists, but now I am sending both. I am using the older interface, the new one confused me

What I do, is copy my original E-Mail from notepad into the html space in Aweber, make any grammar and punctuation changes(plus bold/italics etc) then copy the finished one into the plain text area. I then of course 'wrap long lines'.

The problem is, when I send the test E-Mail to myself(a Gmail account), by default it views the html version. I can't find an option to view the plain text version. 'View original' shows it, but with formatting.

I just want to check it looks OK. If I can't view the plain version, maybe the answer is to do all my formatting/correcting in Open Office THEN paste it into the html area, and 'remove formatting' to paste it into the plain area.

Any help and advice much appreciated

    The only solution I found was to download and install Mozilla Thunderbird.

    Then I set it up to receive emails while leaving the original on the server.

    There is an option in the View menu to say you want it in plain text.

    When I want to see the test email, I view it in Thunderbird. A bit clumsy, I know, but it is a work-around.

    Does that help?

    this is a good question. I stopped doing TEXT emails and only did HTML only, I figured the email client will convert it automatically.

    But i have been hearing that this can prevent you from inboxing.. But if there is an easier solution i would like to know as well

      Yeah, I would like to think it will look fine, but I can't see it, I can't be 100% sure. I'm not big on graphics in the E-Mails I send out, but I do like to use bold and italics. So for this reason, I don't want to just send out plain ones.

    Format your email in a plain text editor such as notepad.

    Copy and paste that email into the text email box. That will be fine.

    Copy and paste that email into the HTMl email box and add any formatting.

    If your text email is copy and pasted right from a plain text editor then it will look exactly like that when received by people with text only email.

      Hi Will,

      The only problem with this for me, is that if I have made any grammar or punctuation mistakes, I will have to correct them twice. This is why I like to copy from notepad into the html box(in Aweber), run the spellcheck(and add bold/italics etc) then copy that into the plain text box. Maybe this is just me being a perfectionist, I generally don't make too many grammar and punctuation mistakes

      Ideally, notepad would have a spellcheck :p
