It doesn't take time to find a good writer if you are searching in the right place. I suggest you visit outsourcing sites like odesk or elance and hire a writer.

I don't measure it in time, I just realize it's all part of the process. In building any business, its important to know that finding good people who are professional and get the job done takes time and is a continuous process.

You may have good fortune and find someone right away or it may take you evaluating several people to find your right match.

You can evaluate the following resources:

    Odesk
    Elance
    Sologig

When you are looking for the next Copywriter, look at their previous comments and clients regarding their work.

If you're lucky, then first time. It's a bit like trying chocolates from a candy box; some you like, some you don't, but eventually you settle on a favourite.

Why do that when there's an abundance of top quality writers right here on WF?

Let say i'm in power tools niche. There are two types of writers i can think of is writing service (WF, elance, freelancer, etc...)
Another one is,visit to the power tools forum and ask those plumbers or anyone with experience to write..

Which one do you think better? Who can write better?

We can't tell you: go test and find out for yourself. Writers here will be biased in their opinion (and it's only a matter of time before they post in here for sig exposure), so you aren't going to get a straight answer. Circumvent the problem by figuring it out on your own, objectively.

Asking a plumber from a power tools forum (who in all probability is just a plumber, and not a writer) is both wishful and naive. A competent writer needs no knowledge of his market - he will research it thoroughly. That's why he's a competent writer. You then have the benefit of a well researched article written by a competent writer.

In the other scenario, you have a plumber with knowledge on power tools writing a crap article, because he is NOT a writer.

          Which would you prefer?

    It depends.
Check the reviews from the previous clients, but to be sure you are going to have to place a small order to test the service first.

How long? It varies. Depends on your ability to judge what will be considered quality content by your target audience.

How to find them? Test a lot of writers. Warriors for Hire is a good place to start. Place a small order with those who seem interesting and go from there.

Pro Tip: Writers who only have "Fast Turnaround" and "Will Pass Copyscape" as their main selling point are writers that you'll want to avoid. Also, those who have to tell you that they provide quality instead of showing you with a great portfolio.

    The best answer is...

    It depends

What type of writer are you looking for?

Are you willing to pay for quality, excellent content is in the eye of the beholder. Finding a writer that fits your specs can be tricky and time consuming.

Place an ad, search forums, get recommendations, search freelance sites.

Depends on what kind of writer you are looking for. Finding a writer is like trying on shoe's and seeing which fits best.
    1. Look in the WF article section and find articles in your niche. Look for an article that fits what you are looking for and PM that writer.
    2. Do the same at article sites like ezine articles etc.
    3. Visit the outsourcing sites and post a job description. This is one of the better ways because, those outsourcing sites handle all of the issues.
    4. Find a writer in the wso's, and classifieds section of the WF.
    5. Find quality PLR content and rewrite your niche articles and ebooks.
There you go, you have now learned 5 ways to finding a writer that will knock your socks off.

In my opinion, the best content writers have their own businesses and clients, not through sites like odesk, etc. Of course the rates may be a bit higher, but you get what you pay for After all, what writer who offers exceptional work is going to work for $5 or $7 and hour, considering the time it takes to research and provide the client with compelling, unique content?

If you are willing to pay $500 per article, you just found him!

      Or,

Digital Point - if your visualization of perfection is a baby eating Gerber's Sour Cream & Onion flavor and belching a lot.

iWriter, Textbroker, etc.. - same as above, but the toddler group.

I recently joined DP and have picked up some fantastic clients. I would not consider my writing to be of the low caliber you describe- in fact I am quite good at what I do. There are good writers everywhere, but finding them can take time. It involves reading their feedback, checking their portfolio carefully, and then hiring them for a test article if you are unsure.

When writers advertise that their content is "CS passed" it's an IMMEDIATE red flag for me.

I write thousands of words almost every day, and I have NEVER thought to run it through copyscape because I just sat there and wrote it all myself. What does it say about a writer who's selling point is that they have checked their own work for plagiarism? Anytime I've looked at content from these types of providers (Maybe a couple dozen examples is the kind of sample size I'm talking about here), the content is almost always poorly spun and unreadable.

Don't go to odesk because it is occupied with Filipinos?

Now, isn't this statement a tad too discriminating? I can count hundreds of Filipino writers who write better than you. Marginalizing writers from the countries you mentioned makes you seem like a racist, and you don't want that labeled against you, do you?

Take a look at your statement, and tell me if you, as a "Native English" whatever, are worth half my dime as a writer.

Not all Asian writers suck, and not all "Native English" writers are the best, either.

    I actually use these 2 :-

    - warrior forum
    - elance

I find that they are the best, but believe it or not the warrior forum is a little better. The reason is you can talk and communicate with them on PM and ask for examples, and do a little deal where by you can do smaller task between a few people....then stick to 1 or 2 of the people that do the best work.

If you want to find buried treasure (or someone with an exceptional writing talent) you have to know where to find it. I personally get my writers from my own website Outsourcefactor(dot)com. Not sure if I can post links but it's on my sig.

Since it's my own website, it doesn't take too much time. Filtering your potential writers however takes time, especially when you have so many great writers to choose from.

My advice is: take time to find a writer that you're happy with and then keep his/her number for future transactions.

Good writers are like gold dust and when you find a good one hold the heck onto them. And remember that everyone defines a 'good writer' by different standards, so don't just rely on testimonials.

I've seen glowing testimonials on certain writers, samples seemed great and then when I've gone on to hire them... *shakes my head* And these were not cheap writers either!

So do have a look at a sample, then hire them out for a test article or two. Pay close attention to how responsive they are, their style and quality of the writing and whether you feel you can work with then again.

Finding a good writer is a process - you're ultimately looking for a partnership with someone who just gets it.

It simply takes as long as it takes my friend.
