Need Suggestions for Increasing Traffic to My Blog - Critique it!

I have been working really hard on my blog, but want to find some ways to increase traffic that would make the most sense for my topics. I would also like to learn how to monetize it better, but am not interested in Adsense.

I think I need to update it more often, but what other ideas could I explore?

Here is my blog link, please feel free to leave feedback and critique it. I could use the help and insight.

Also, I think that guest blogging might be a good option but not really sure how to break into that. Any tips?

    1. Article marketing is a great way to get blog traffic. Write articles related to your blog topic and submit them to several article sites, like this one! In the resource box leave two links, one to the home page of your blog and another to your best posts. Interchange the links with each article you write. These backlinks are also good for SEO and getting higher search engine rankings for your blog for more blog traffic. Remember the better your article the more those readers will want to visit your blog and read more of what you've written.

    2. Search Engine Optimization is one of the best ways to get blog traffic. Many times bloggers just title their posts at random, this is a big mistake. Keyword research should be done for each blog post title.

    3. Use social sites to promote your blog. Social sites like StumbleUpon, Digg and Reddit, have huge memberships and traffic and posting your content to these sites can bring you tons of blog traffic. There are over 100 social sites and they are great for networking with other bloggers as well. Make sure to also have a widget at the end of each of your posts so your visitors can submit and vote on your content on these sites.

    You have tons of great content on your website that will help alot of Internet entrepreneurs. But these are some tips that I suggest for your blog...

    1. You have several categories on this blog. I think you should limit to one category. Just focus on make money online or self publishing.
    2. Choose another domain. Choose a domain that can be brandable. Brandable blog domains such as Techcrunch, Mashable, etc. do great and are memorable to readers.
    3. Use social bookmarkings to promote your blog posts.
    4. Post daily on make money online niche forums such as this one with a signature link to your blog.
    5. Advertise with stumbleupon.com! It is only $0.05 per view to advertise and your website can receive targeted traffic that converts very well.

    You are on the right track, keep up the hard work! It will soon pay off.

    I like the blog. There are alot of affiliate programs that you can join to use as a source of revenue. Or, there's also the option of creating your own products (which isn't hard). You should consider forums and cheap but effective advertising to get your blog more promotion. Also consider Youtube.

      I agree with willisk that perhaps you would benefit from narrowing your focus. This will help you better define what keywords you want to optimize your site for and will help you build a more effective backlink building strategy.

      Guest blogging is a great idea, and has been a great source of traffic for me. What I do is type my keyword + guest blogging into google and look for blogs that have a decent following (lots of post comments).

      I will then find the contact info for the site owner and email them a short note explaining what I like about their blog and that I would like the opportunity to be a guest blogger on their site.

      Lots of bloggers are more than happy to accomodate if you can provide them with solid, unique content.

    Hi Ashley, I see that your home page title is set up as... <title>Blog | Ashly Lorenzana</title>

    I would use my "main concept" keywords in my home page title. The home page should describe what your blog is all about. This will help the search engines index your site more effectively for your specific keywords.

    Also, check out problogger.com for guest posting. Hope this helps!

    While there are a ton of things you can do, the very first thing I would do is offer a free eBook or gift to get them to sign up to your email list.
    Your 'email newsletter' and your social icons are hard to see and not very inviting.

    I love your blog, the moment I step-in.. I opened up 4 different pages.

    2 reasons why I love your blog:

    1) I know it's a "genuine" blog and most of the content within are written by you.
    2) Ad-FREE (LUV IT)

    Here are few ways to increase your traffic and awareness to your blog/brand:

    1) Guest-Post to related IM niche. There are A LOT (I do mean A LOT) of blogs in the IM niche, contact a few of the blog owners whom you think is trustworthy and reliable. This is by far the fastest and easiest way to drive targeted traffic and increase awareness.

    2) Be everywhere - Maybe you can start a youtube channel, create videos to reach out to more people through different platforms. Podcasting is something you should consider doing too

    3) Social Media, specifically stumbleupon.. Great way to build your brand. Content goes viral extremely fast - lighting speed.. But bounce rate is pretty high too.. I'd say stumbleupon is just for branding and viral marketing purposes. (I know you're most probably using facebook and twitter now that's why I didn't mention them).

    If I have a blog in IM, I'd love to partner up with you.. Guest posting, blog commenting, share one another's content etc.

    You should look for blogging-partners.. it's going to be fun.

    Monetization - I really don't even mess around to much with adsense, I've had plenty of success with affiliate marketing. Find some relative affiliate products and you can put a few banners or links up on your blog. Also, do some reviews on some actual IM products that you've purchased, and of course add your affiliate links, and put those blog links on your sidebar.

    Suggestion - list on your sidebar a popular posts section with at least 10 or more posts. This helps with the bounce rate and increased referrals to your epic blog posts.

    Traffic - guest posting is probably the most powerful and effective form of getting traffic. Look at some of the authoritative blogs in your niche and read their policies on guest posting and send them an email and ask what kind of posts they're interested in or recommend something for them.

    Tip: guest posts should be your best posts not your lowest quality, and you want to think about how you can help the person's blog you want to guest post on, so write a guest post that will bring them more traffic and attention. If you keep these 2 things in mind, you'll get more guest post opportunities and be asked to guest post again on the same blogs.

    and be where you most likely customer is. Put your message infront of them.

      Cool site

      Yeah I think guest blogging might make a good fit for you. The Pro Blogger website by Darren Rowse is worth subscribing to for the daily update as you get new guest posts each day and the blogs posting there will be the sort of ones that would be good to approach for guest posts (and you get to know a bit about the other blogs that are out there and doing well right now) as well as that site itself probably!

    As we all know content is the king in online marketing. If you want to increase the traffic then one thing you need to do is provide good, unique and informative articles to the users. Then you go with social media optimization, share your content as much as possible on twitter, facebook, linkedin and now the best site is pinterest or if you dont have enough time to do all this things then you can hire someone.
