Selling ebook dirt cheap, good or bad idea?

Hi!


I am in the process of writing my first ebook, but not sure how much to sell it for?

If I were to sell it under $5, but have quality content, would this be more likely to attract readers...or does a low price somehow indicate there is something 'wrong' with the product?

My book is in the baby-care niche.

This would be a one-off product, btw.

Thoughts anyone?

    No this can work, if you have a good up-sell.

    Also it qualities them as buyers, opposed to offering a free book.

    But for $5 you may consider just giving it as a free give away.

    Where are you selling this product?

    If you're going to go low...you might as well go free.

    The trick is to have a product on the backend that you can market to the people who download your cheap or free eBook.

    Price it whatever is worth. Do not underprice your product. Either you give it away for free (to attract leads), or price it at its fair price (to attract customers).

    If its a good Ebook, put a price that it is worth.

    Find a good PLR Ebook in the same niche to give away for free.

    Then have yours as an up sale in a series of emails.

    Yes you want to get it out there but $5 is not very much especially if you put your time and effort into it. I would suggest you sell it for a bit more.

    Where are you selling it? Go to the eBook section on amazon and shop around to see what others are pricing with your niche. $2.99 is common for eBooks on kindle for newbies. Also enroll you book in KDP if you don't know what it is Google it. It's an awesome program.

    The price must go up with the quaity of the content. But if you have a strong backend it can't hurt cutting a few bucks off the price

    Hey,

    Yes. Ive experienced that before. You may have an audience who think the price will reflect the quality. So can ask any one who has reviewed the book, for what they would pay etc.

    If you decided to give for free, you would be building a niche specific list and could make $ from backend offers. However once you build that list. That worth more

    You can always do a simple "cheat sheet" for free. Deliver this as concise web content that appears on the page immediately after opt-in. Give some good tips and establish trust/credibility here. Link to your product page next where you sell the e-book.

    Price it at whatever price you think it is worth, then have 'giveaway days' where people can see that they can get your $7 for free.

    If you are publishing to Kindle you can do that with KDP Select.

    It will be dependent on whether you want to build a list of customers or you want to build a list of prospects. If you want to build a list of subscriber who are customers, you can price it low to get as many people as paid customers as possible. However, if you want to build a list of prospects, you will want to give it away for free.

    But the best method is to do both at the same time as what many successful marketers have done. If you have create the ebook and you feel that the content do contain values, you will want to offer that as a OTO. You can give a few chapters of the ebook for free as a lead generating tool and they will need to purchase it if they want to read the rest of the ebook.
